amazing how GW2’s world feels massive but you can port anywhere instantly. that blue is talking rubbish.
and when rng is so stacked against you and you need to repeat the same instance several times on several toons every week, lessening the travel time is beneficial.
Journey? It was journey in 2010! Now it it pain for eyes. Alwqays when I am flying somewhere I got ot make coffe, but 23 cups per day are probably too much.
I don’t think so, I played GW2 for like a year when it launched and the world felt great as I was exploring, but after some time, it began to be very boring, I just ported to nearest waypoint to world boss spawn, killed world boss, ported to next, etc… there was basically no investment, no decision, no consequences, you just ported all over the world as you wished… so opinion about this is very subjective, not everyone likes to have it as easy as possible…
But just like you say, not every one likes, if it he don’t like to have easy acces then he can go and walk there. It is a problem?
If you don’t like travelign with bus or car because you have problems, they you still can you ride on bike or walk.
Complaining about not having a portal to caverns of time, a place where someone will go 1-2 times per week for a transmog run. Even though they do have such a portal readily available in a hub where they posses a hearthstone with a separate cooldown no less.
Your argument is basically give everyone free gear, if they don’t want free gear, they can raid for it, but don’t refuse free gear to those who want it…
I personally think there is far too many blooming portals in the game already. It seems to me that some people would like nothing more than to login to the game, be instantly at max level and be presented with a menu saying ‘Which raid, dungeon or BG do you wish to join?’.
It is a world you are supposed to move about it in. Travel even to get to your destination.
I am not one of these manic pro Classic fans but I did prefer it in Classic. You wanted a portal you asked for a Mage to create one and had to interact with other players to get the benefit. You didn’t want to do this than you had to travel which in turn increased the chance of meeting other players especially even in World PVP.
Yes it is bigger and yet feels more dead than Classic ever did. I see so few players out in the open world now. That isn’t solely down to portals of course but they are definitely a contributing factor.
Portals used to be a nice benefit that you had to pay or if a Mage was feeling nice gave for free. Now it seems some players would just prefer an instant menu that just says “Where do you want to go today?”.
On Wotlk we got around 11 milions players, now we probably more than half of that number. And world is 3 times bigger! And ltos of people when they log in they are going to dungeons/raids so you will not meet them in world.
Total population is not really relevant. You could have a player on a low population server back then who now play on a high pop server. They would argue that it is busy now based on their experiences on their new server.
However like I said portals are not the only factor, server population definitely is a contributor but with CRZ as well now in place it would definitely be busier in my opinion without portals than with.
Can I a simple lowly player suggest that the portals are made available when one has completed the current pathfinder achievements? I love exploring the different worlds of Warcraft and have been doing so for 10 years, however like many others i have a lot of high level alts that have completed various zones and quests and achievements. Feel like we’ve earned the use of the portals at least.
No portals are not earned, they are just there. I think the only portals earned are Cataclysm ones, those appear when you meet specific condition, even if that condition is only level. But if you get portal from mage to Dalaran for example, you can use those portals even on low level.
I am not supporting this kind of way. It would work when adding NEW portals but actually taking stuff away from game and then making people “earn it” again is just cheap tactics stretching the gameplay even more wihout actually adding new content to the game.
I can’t speak for Blizzard but it just looks like they tidied up the mess of portals and cut out various routes from older capitals.
This isn’t the first time they’ve done this. I still remember when Dalaran (now old Dalaran) lost the bulk of it’s portals.
There are still loads of portals in the game, there are numerous toys, gizmos, cloaks, rings etc that will teleport you to various places. Failing that there are also mages you can pester and bribe to send you to some locations.
Personally I’m not upset by the changes but I realise others are. I don’t find it a big deal or any major inconvenience. I can still get to all the locations that the portals took me to.
I like you Punyelf but come on, with that mindset we could all walk to work or swim over the ocean for our vacations but still we take the train, car or plane cause it’s more convenient. They don’t have to add portals to every single place but they can stop removing what is already there and used by thousands every day.
It feels to me, that they ONLY want to focus on end game content and are cutting off facilities from older content. Instead of getting people more spread, they are all condensate them on last expact.
