No m+ balance tuning is killing the game

So now when meta has become clear and its almost impossible to get into a key as non-meta class in pugs, especially high key. People prefer waiting for 10-20 more minutes just to get meta class, even if this will be some fotm reroller with less experience.

This is the exact moment in time of the patch when people drop the game because it becomes boring when you get perma declined and subscription is expiring. Why cant blizzard do m+ balance changes around this time to shake the meta so people are baited to resub again, isnt this kinda profitable for them?

Balancing the game regularly makes people hope that their class will be good at some point so they keep playing. But for several years already game feels so homogenized yet so stupidly unbalanced and inconsistent its unreal. Give warriors BL and increase target cap from 5? No, it will be too homogenized! Give mages and hunters BL and palas CR and kicks to all of them? Good idea!

Thoughts?

There is always the people who say" why not balance this and that" , that’s no brainer my guy , a game will never be balanced , there will always be S tier and F tier , if you can name me one game that have balanced specs , then your right and im wrong , trust me you ain’t finding a balanced game without tier lists.

Also Blizzard tend to avoid big balance patches in the middle of the expac or continious balance patches every week , they have to change numbers every week and see how to perform and keep doing it over and over and over , just changing some numbers and thinking that everything will be s tier or fixed is a no no. Blizzard is not the problem here my guy , the problem is the community , there is people timing +16 on brewmaster , isn’t brew crap ? well sure its less tanky and can be easily in danger compared to other good tier classes , but you still can do it , same for dps , i invited ferals on my +13 that are doing massive damage , why isn’t feral good ? lack of utility i would assume. The community is so keen on folowing what their pro player religion say , this season balance is very good , there is so many A/S classes compared to what we had.

At the end of the day there is one solution to be made is to introduce m+ queue system , and give it its own raider io ranking , that way people can gear up and do keys without worying about anything , and this is gonna happen soon enough trust me , either next season or season 4 , where blizzard like to implement test content.

that its a nonsense. a lot of people quit - yes - but thats because they already achieved whatever they wanted aka all portals / AOTC and unsub till 11.1.7 when it will be worth coming back

you can get +10s done on literaly any combination of classes and specs in game.

anythign abve is meaningless as its only for tryhards

so yes - blizzard do not care.

I too think it is insane they gave Paladins a CR considering how many great abilities they already had.

Although it was probably just because it’s a popular class that can play all 3 roles so it was for the greater good of us all.

looks at solo arena queue

Sure…and you need to promise a beach side house before any tank or healer worth their salts will even consider joining this system.

For me it’s less about what’s considered meta and more about the typical habits of players who gravitate toward certain classes. Over time I’ve noticed a clear difference in how people play. Especially when it comes to responsibilities like interrupting or using utility.

For example, in my experience, people who play casters often don’t prioritize interrupts as much as melee do. That doesn’t mean they’re bad players but it makes it harder to rely on them in high pressure situations. With melee you can usually count on them having interrupts and stuns bound and ready to go and that consistency is crucial for me when deciding who to invite or which class to play myself.

Reliable execution matters more than meta and that often comes down to player behavior. My two cents

I guess I went a bit off the mark there. I get your point, your talking about a systemic issue. Totally get that frustration.

M+ for sure will have LFD queue in the future.

And M+ eventually will have a Torghast/delve format:

  • Key will be removed. Players unlock each M+ dungeon by dungeon, and level by level.
  • Players can only queue/enter a +(N+1) after they have completed a +N in time.
  • Players can queue any M+ in LFG (specific M+ or random M+).
  • There is minimum item level requirement for each level.

It is just a matter of time.

Will it happen faster than “WoWs death”? Been dying since TBC and I am growing bored of waiting…

you get like 50 meta classes applying in the first 10 seconds, it doesn’t matter if they’re 50% better or 1% better than your class, there’s a million of them playing DPS.

There could be a 1% power difference and nothing would change.

The usual ‘Knights of the order of Blizzard Entertainment Incorporated’ out to combat criticism.

You would hope they get paid…

Yes, meta will always exist by the 1% gains missed by devs, often inevitable, but I do not think the OP is that daft, he concerns a larger margin currently present in the game…

I found it a bit funny that you’re playing a warrior. Not in a bad way, just because warriors are super strong in M+ in my experience. You’d think that would mean a guaranteed spot. So I get that you’re not raging about yourself specifically, but more about the system as a whole and that totally makes sense.

Because he’s a player concerned about the development team’s mindset, if it continues his class may be next. And that mindset could bleed beyond balancing.

Agree, but why not slightly change meta more often, lets say every 2-4 weeks to keep people interested in game instead of every patch which is 3 months?

Yes, exactly, people overreact, and blizzard can absolutely do smth about this. Balance tuning is required to not only change power of specs, but also change people’s perception of specs.

The problem often is not that specs dont have enough power, problem is that not meta specs are not invited whatsoever.

I bet there are a lot of people who havent reached their goals yet or just play for fun and they are not being invited even to their +7s anymore, so not only tryhards suffer. This is not the reason to give up balancing the game.

No class is “king” forever. Back then augment evo was pretty much “perma spot” in any party, now…nobody wants to even stand next to augs in parties.

Some patches you are in Godly S tiers, sometimes…not so Godly tiers. Its the way of life. Blizzard will never make the perfect balance and there will always be S and F tiers.

How far into the future? Not even Delves and Normal Raid have auto group.

I doubt they will get rids of keys because if you are bad and you can’t get into groups then using your own key is the only path. That’s what is currently happening to me on my VDH.

Regardless of tier systems, functionally right now, balancing isn’t great.

:hole:

When it was? Also you are absolutely disregarding the other major contributing factor = your average m+ Joe’s mindset.
They dont even know why class A is S tier while class B is f tier. For them website said fire mage is S tier so any fire mage they invite will carry the whole group…and then act surprised pikachu face when said fire mage doesnt even know his rotation or doesnt deliver.

There was even a old meme comic but which illustrates the issue perfectly. Blizzard makes the perfect balance and everyone is pretty much exactly even on the list.
Everyone is happy…right?
Nop. Warriors demand to be renamed to battlemasters because the list got filtered down based on alphabet and their first letter “W” put them as “last” on the list.

So TL:DR = Doesnt matter if the class difference is 0.000001% or 10% or 100% in numbers. There will always be tier lists and people who blindly follow them without question…

It’s not just the ‘meta’ classes, some of the dungeons need some tuning.

Especially:

Cinderbrew Meadery - The mechanics are OK generally, but the timer is way too tight. 4/5 deaths on 12+ is basically depleted. Probably some nerfs to the ogres (the ones in the corridors take ages to kill, the drop small adds afterwards which also take ages to kill). Extend the timer by 3 mins, please.

Priory of the Sanctified Flame - Some of the overlaps are too brutal, like the Knight’s Disruptive Shout overlapping with a Sharpshooter Pot Shot. Also way too tight a timer, extend by 3 mins please.

You’re in the top 1%, its not feasible to balance to that degree. Something is always going to be preferred.

Your options are:

  1. Reroll
  2. Make likeminded friends that are prepared to push keys in a non meta world.

The “no balance changes” isn’t really true. On the 26th there were probably about 50 lines of changes.

I disagree. The amount of times I’ve seen tanks wait while people kill 20 blobs (or dps just go ham on them forcing the tank go stay back and fight for aggro). This is essentially l2 chain pull. You don’t have to finish off the last pack before you move on.

I repeat, the problem is not having perfect balance, problem is we have same imperfect balance for too long. Dk is absolutely broken now in keys and Im ok with that, but let it be broken for 2 weeks, not whole patch.

People will blindly follow tier lists and it can not be changed, what can be changes is this actual tier lists which is based on perception of specs power, which can be changed by class tunings.
