No Punishment for Rude/Toxic

Hello. So I’ve been playing this game for a very long time and met many toxic people trough my wow experience, I’ve always taken it as a part of the game, but later on it has become too much. 9/10 games in solo shuffle arenas as you enter and for example say something like: Hello, let’s go for a mage for example, in return you will hear very bad words in your direction and if you try to ask them why, you will be given even more terrible comments, not just bad words but also the worst part I really think should not exist and people who say that should be permanently banned is when they say: go get cancer or wish for you or your family members to die in pain from cancer again or something else.
I barely make any posts on forums, but as i love this game, I wish it to be a place where people can relax and have fun. Do not get me wrong, I have been rude so were you I m sure people out there, nobody is saint but there should be a limit to it.
The problem me and many more people are having today is Nobody cares about being punished. If you say please don’t badmouth me, or be polite to someone who is extremly rude and tell them that you will report them, in return you will hear: ‘‘Do that, no one cares’’ and many more rude words with that also.
Same goes for M+ where for example you join a team in lfg and there are 4 friends-premade group, as the run starts if you express your opinion about something despite the fact your right or not, while being super polite you will get badmouthed, and the worst part is in most cases they report you and as they are many and you are alone you will be the one getting warning about missbehaving.
So all I am asking is, if you have faced same problems many times and I am sure you all did at some point, some less some more, let us try to be heard and find the solution for this problem.
Much love to all and see you in Azeroth.

Best option is to not even answer back when they start insulting you and just report it.
Dont even say you reported since it will only cause more issues potentially for you.

What ive understood they are far better at punishing toxic people in WoW than on the PvP forum. Which might not say much but atleast a little considering theres been people who went onto the forum to complain they got banned even “while they did nothing” while calling people all kinds of words. :+1:

But for m+, I just let the leader do his job and I wont even say anything except a simple “ello” when I join. No point in trying to make their group change anything x)

There’s plenty of punishment. In fact, people get banned very easily.

You will never be told by Blizzard that somebody was banned or what action has been taken against them.

I actually used to get mail (mailbox ingame) everytime I caused someone to get punished before…
Not sure if they changed that part or when though.

They still send them out when you report cheaters/exploiters and something happens

with this much innosence seeping through here and the cuteness of this character i cant think of any other punishment than straight up ban everyone who say this paladin anything unkind, even little hearts on the mog

I do not try to change anything, but for just suggesting something or not even suggesting and just saying something, getting badmouthed makes no sense, means if you joined 10 man group and you are only one alone you should be treated as they like and remain silent.
Thank you for reply btw. have a lovely day

Don’t say anything back and simply report them with the appropriate option, go on with your day/gameplay.

Hi,

I am sadened you are having such a rough experience in WoW. What you are going to need is this addon: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/global-ignore-list once downloaded you simply go into your WoW folder, find interface and paste it directly into addons. This addon will allow you to ignore more players than the system normally allows, it will also put all their characters on ignore automatically, so you don’t have to see them again. Also some neat additions as writing a note on the ignore tag, and even putting them on a timeout - if an outright ignore is too much.

Sadly, you can not avoid stressed and mentally unstable people. WoW is a stressrelief, for many that sadly causes them to say nasty things and behave out of line. They are human and are with human flaws, as with all of us. As they are part of all of us, they will always be there. What you can do is simply put them on ignore early as possible. They say anything negative, slap them on ignore immediately. No need to read more than you are comfortable with.

If they are targeting with stuff that requires more than an ignore, rightclick their name and report them for bad language. Often this will first get them shadowbanned (or global muted), so others in the future do not need to see what they are spouting of negativity. They will not get kicked or banned just yet. If they keep it up after the shadowban is over - they will recieve a timeout kick with a warning to adjust. If they keep on after that, it is likely a ban. Yet most stop after the first shadowban and they have cooled down after a bad day. Then most of the remaining stop after the first warning and change their tone and tune it down.

So in short:
They annoy you - ignore them.
They attack you verbally - report them, and ignore them.

As long there are humans, we will act human. There will be the good and the bad. By global ignoring someones account, you will reduce your risk to hear the same badmouth by a good margin. In PvP sessions especialy, you can risk meeting them again, so get the addon. Save yourself the headache.

Best of luck out there :dracthyr_yay_animated:

I have a stacked thumbdrive somewhere with screenshots from years of playing and i can say it is not any worse now than several years back.

A russian made a char on my server named it after my char and ending the name with sucks. only to whisper me “cancer you, hop hop stinky. Hope family dies”

Guess he didn’t like the mobility of resto druids.

I find it very funny when people rage whisper me.

The toxic attitude of some players just makes me want to turn the chat off for good. However, I found that when people begin with cheerful/supportive messages there is usually less toxicity in arena/bg/m+.
Also, I wish that with AI chatbots like chatGPT blizzard introduced an option to automatically turn hate speech into constructive criticism haha

i was banned for “1” week very recently for arguing with someone on solo shuffle, if that makes you feel better

i kept asking the healer to save his major defensives, for when ive already used my defensives, bcuz he would throw them at me first few second of every fight, when i would press major cds to stay alive, and that would mean i was dead 1 minute later

Played (MS Saga : A New Dawn) on PS2 emulator for a whole week
best…week…evor

come into my game with this vulpera big ears and name butterpeanut i wont say nothing but “:D” and maybe some friendly banter :joy:

but you see the player with most weird letters on their name and something r1 type name like Killergodxwhalekillgodxxqtkillxx and his minmaxing the jeebus out of his race choise and fotm spec and you know this when to disable chat

You see someone with a name that starts with Funky, you run. Run, and never look back.

or put on some good jam? :notes:

i got behaviour warning after say “???” “stop gripping me” to two disc who were either on purpose or out of cluelessness yoinking me constant right over my own port location every round both priest would do the same

and i told them to stop gripping me and i get behavior warning for it, all i know they could be doing it on purpose and throwing as it seems like troll move to go stand over lock teleport location and keep life grip him every round on it kinda removing the little mobility he have by doing so

but as “stop gripping me” is nothing but a request i never got ban for it, yet it is extremely stupid these idiotic individuals make a report out of it and it exposes a flaw on this system

i dont want to get warning for typing “:)” and 20 people go and click report on it, its an mmorpg and people are supposed to communicate because thats the whole point compare to single players

Rule number one, don’t say anything. If you don’t say anything, the effort of reporting should stop them from doing so.

Sadly, the community rulebook thingy tells you that you are to greet your fellow players. So a “Hi” at the start of the dungeon is a must. Luckilly, that greeting should disapear before reporting comes up. So say your one required “hi” and then zip it. If you got any addons that use your chatbox to relay information, turn it off. Be a ghost.

:joy:

really? thats good, always start everything with a “hello” haha

never happened to me once in a shuffle match.

In general toxic comments happen in all online games. Report them or ignore them.

Just ignore them and move on. I don’t understand why it matters what some lowly random player says.
