Dalaran, the Mecca of Magic.
My man speaks of personal opinion and how dark some parts of WoW were and it goes down to North RPers hating on immigrants.
Nah, itâs become less so. Thereâs a bigger emphasis on morally gray stuff instead of pure duality and itâs accompanied with culturally imperialist takes on cultures that donât follow âModern Westernâ morality, however you want to define that.
Orc honor is a good showcase of this where Golden herself specifies that Garrosh was âToo orcâ and that thatâs a bad thing, whereas Thrall is better because heâs raised by humans.
Iâve RPed around the north on and off over the years up until around last May, and honestly I have seen that mindset manifest among some Alliance-side guilds that come and go in the north.
But in my experience those pockets have also all been the laughing stock of both the community of northern RPers and the realm as a whole. Theyâre not something anyone should seriously take as an indicative of the norm and we should instead continue dunking them into the trash where they belong. Painting everyone with a broad brush isnât at all based.
Why would you even bother to post if you are not going to state your opinion about the matter that the post is about?
More than half of the comments here are assumptions upon assumptions and dismiss the point that OP is getting it at because instead we have people portraying their whole political ideas and their experience with religion and how they feel about it.
Yeah about that. Iâd argue that they have succeeded, have they not?
The wonderful MoRaLlY gRaY burning of teldrassil
Oh thatâs very cute of you.
You can believe what you want Fearless, though you should probably look up that a Horde Goblin canât physically stand around in SW and RP.
Pretty sure I am the only authority on what I want to say Morsth.
Me stating that some Scarlet Crusade RPers have unironically bashed minorities and immigrants on their social media /=/ every Scarlet RPer is that
Yep, they are very much a minority in the Noth RP scene, but a extremely ugly and vile one at that.
I was going to say, for all the memes and talks about how North RP is bad or etc for various reasons, it is very easy to tell apart the people just role-playing along with the setting fine and the few clowns that are justâŚwell, those kind of people.
What really is the question he is asking?
Is wow based on christianity? Yes and no
I say no because there is more than one influence that has made the game what it is and was.
And even if i did try to answer it, people like you could still argue that i am wrong. It all comes down to ones perspective and opinion.
Anyone who equates the many ways to percieve a religion that canât just be describe as âchristianityâ and creates assumptions upon assumptions should be more wary of how he/she interact with others.
He doesnât have to play other games to do so, the Church of Light is based on Christianity and will be portrayed with many themes, is that bad? No, is just a setting.
Hopefully WoW isnât based on christianity jfc.
I think whatever conflicting/retconned lore and setting in WoW is always a cause of how old the game is.
Any setting by the old lore team that has retconned by todayâs writing team, will be retconned by whatever new writing team thatâll rotate in a few years from now.
Your RP today might not make sense in a few years!
There was that episode last year when some of the clowns made AA pages for âMagâhar orcâ NPCs using arrest mugshots of black people.
Needless to say they got clowned real quick by everyone who knew them
Infact you where stating it as if it was a common thing for them to be very hateful towards immigrants.
Is this even relevant to the topic though?
Honestly seems like you are on your own little raft out on the ocean mate.
Christianity is good
Meg I get that Morst called you here for an epic dunk, but at least read what I write first, lad.
Was about some of the Scarlet RPers
This was towards some of the more well-known and more over memeâd types you -can- find in the Nerf RP.
It is definatly inspired by it, yes. Iâm not arguing this. However, the lore around the Church have also changed drastically, and there is a difference between being inspired and a direct copypaste.
Early Warcraftâs Church was more or less just a copypaste of Christianity. Most D&D styled fantasy settings of the 90âs/that era was. It wasnât very creative and extremly rigid.
As they developed their own lore though, thingâs changed. The whole talk of Angels and Hell and Daemons dissapeared, the demons became aliens from another world instead of beings from hell. The concept of Heaven vanished. Angels and âGodâ figure just became the Light, as a universal force of good and order.
Warcraftâs early Church of the Holy Light was very Christian. The current one was inspired by this, but doesnât make it a Christian church, or WoWâs setting Christian so to speak.
My guys weâre 6 whole days past april fools.
Pretty ugly assumption, it does not take rocket science to bump onto a new topics on AD and find peculiar posts underneath.
More over the expanded Titan origin for humans, Tyr, etc is hardly even Christian flavoured.
Sure, in the original days of Warcraftâs inception much of it was directly derived from more traditional DnD styled stuff like you said, Vixi.
But I think treating it just as the same as it was⌠What, 30 actual IRL years ago? Is pretty much just headcanoning all that back.
