Many people could not get in and had to wait minutes, while the people that could get in right away sniped all the common names… I know it’s too late now, but for the future for the love of god please do name reservations before launch, and limit to 1 or 2 names per account. Names matter to some people. Thank you.
then names would just get sniped during reservations. You could use uncommon or rare names too

At least u didn’t log on the character select screen 1sec after servers are up only to get a “you have reached the maximum amount of chars on that account”.
That must be some cosmic karma or something, had to legit change realms and delete some chars then come back to a faction lock which i had to wait 10mins to join again, by which most of the names i wanted to take were gone.
Did not even know classic had this and why would that limit be shared between Era, fresh, SoD & hardcore?

I didnt even know either till it happened to me.
Aside from the first few minutes being slightly crazy, I thought it actually went pretty well. The lag calmed down pretty quickly, and I was able to tag mobs with some sort of ease.
Even if you don’t get the “common name” written “commonly”, you could try a different approach by using a phonetic way of writing the common name.
Or better yet: come up with something original! I know you can do it, just have a little fun brainstorming really bad puns… it’ll get you to the good names.

Logged on this morning, no queues or lagg. Worked perfectly here, only had to try a few different names.
I have seen launches were servers were down or had problems for a day+
Imagine creating a thread with such a title only 30min after launch.
For the records, it was one of the best WoW launches ever and realm logins were within an acceptable time frame.

Well, even worse. I could get in around the first minute or two, most names free, but then the alliance faction was locked, horde only. Didn’t want horde as there is only one PVP server. So I relogged into the server, then I had to wait 5 minutes, but by then all the names I would have liked were taken.

It was one of the smoothest launches/patches I’ve seen in this game. Sorry you didn’t get your desired name OP, I know how important that can be. I sat there with a coffee at 1am on workweek to get Nicolay also. Luckily I did.
