Not enjoying Paladin leveling

I started levelling my paladin on classic thinking it would be fun, but after i reached level 30 the enjoyment for this class just is not the same. would it be worth starting a new class to level? or should i just stick to this one and try to ride it out to 60. As with a friend i’m levelling a warlock which to me is just so much more enjoyable. Any recommendations as to any classes i would find more fun to play?
PSA. I do really enjoy spell casting classes

I think you know the answer to your question.

Play what you find fun. 99% of the time, you’ll be forced to heal endgame if you play the paladin. If that’s not your cuppa tea, go ahead and play your warlock, since you seem to enjoy that one!

I’ve got my classic Paladin almost to 60 and it’s been a fair old slog at some points. I’d say, if you’re really not enjoying the class. Go play another one, at least for a while.

At the very least, level something you’re having some more fun with and after you’ve hit 60 on that, send your itty bitty Paladin a load of gold and power level it by buying goodies off AH.
It’s sort of how I’ll be giving my alts mounts. I’m still fairly naff at gold generating, but it will be easier on a level 60 character who no longer has to pay for spells.

I wouldn’t completely bin it though, keep it around. You may find you want to return to it at a later date.

That’s a fair point. i mean i’m not opposed to healing, but i think the fun factor at the moment isn’t there. not as much as it was in the early game where i was just starting out. i’ll have a look and see what peaks my interest

Plenty of time to play around with a few classes. I had a really hard time picking a main for Classic. Eventually, I ended up going back to playing hunter, like I did back in the day.

You could try leveling a few classes to level 20ish to see what resonates with you. Or watch a video by Madseasonshow on YouTube, where he goes over a very basic - yet informative - guide over the classes available to you in Classic.

Paladin and shaman levelling can be extremely tedious and daunting, sadly. It’s mostly auto-attacking with a superslow weapon, hoping you don’t miss and get rekt. Sure, the shaman could try using shocks, but a couple clicks and you’re already down half your mana bar.

I’d say either you are sure you’ll enjoy your class at 60 and hold it out, or try something else. Going through that hell only to find out it’s not the class you wanna play at max level would suck.

WHY
WOULD
YOU
ENJOY
PALADIN
LEVELING

That’s like saying you would enjoy wiping with sandpaper. Pallies have an EASY time levelling but very boring and slow. As opposed to warrior levelling etc which is hard, boring and slow with many deaths.

play literally whatever you want, when you want to do it. No one is stopping you other than yourself, and 30 is easy mode, you could even turn the pally into a 39 twink or whatever later idk

The only way you can have fun as paladin is either healing or tanking in groups. It doesn’t change at 60 because paladin just has no abilities. So if it’s not something you enjoy now and u don’t want to be just a healing bot or meme tank you should consider changing class.

I get all your points. I mean i was considering a druid but the only issue with that is just how useless they can be in the endgame so that’s one i’ll have to look more into. My other options are rogues and hunters, but yeah i’ll have a look around give a couple of classes a go. As i do love classic, it’s just i got a bit of a nasty surprise with the paladin when comparing it to retail LOL

Not knocking Paladin’s. I think we’re awesome, but by god they’re boring in Classic.

Classic Hunter’s are fun, or make yourself a nice water boy, sorry Mage.

Druid tank is a lot better tank than paladin tank. Resto is worse than holy paladin but it’s not that much worse, you will still easly get into raids and dungeon groups. Druid dps is bad but so is paladin so it’s not much difference here.

warrior is not slow nor do you die much unless u try to solo elite quests aimed at warlocks, mages or hunters

warrior is the pve dps.
warlock is late game king.
mage is group pvp class.

pick one

Think it’s time i looked at that video that was recommended!

It runs for almost an hour, so strap yourself in for Madseason’s ASMR-quality drone-y voice of wisdom.

… PS, if you want a fun, easy time leveling and to dominate World PvP and Battlegrounds, roll hunter. That is, if you don’t mind NOT topping the damage meter in raids.

I’m just here for the enjoyment of the game to be honest. As this will be my alt as per say since my main is that warlock. just levelling it with a friend so it’s a strict no levelling without each other rule. So i may as well find a character i will enjoy just as much.

Shaman isn’t so bad, play as enhance in elem spec worked for me, with 8d13h to 60. Easy! Playing as enhance, relying on that sweet sweet WF proc can be a bore.

Warrior is great if you want to look cool and cleave some enemies in endgame. Also having the ability to tank dungeons is fun as it requires alot of management regarding aggro control and placing bosses etc.

You can also go Mage if you like AoE farming and making tons of Gold.

I play both Mage and Warrior with the Warrior as my alt he but could become my main in future.

Your problem is simple:

Paladin is the best support class in the game.

Paladin is the worst solo class in the game.

If you’re playing by yourself, paladin will be a struggle. You’re already levelling a warlock, which is essentially what my suggestion would have been.
