Not new player friendly

(TLDR - 30 minute timer received from being kicked from a dungeon is appalling and damaging the game experience)

If you want a simple answer to why this game fails to entice new players and keep them, look no further than dungeon finder and impatient players.

I’ve returned to play after around 1 year out, I’ve done a few dungeons in The War Within however I’ve found a dungeon that I can’t quite get the hang of yet. Something to do with jumping from airship to airship. I did this previously with another group and didn’t die, it moved at a different pace. This time seemed to be more random.

I’m trying to learn it however I died twice. I got kicked on the second death.

My biggest issue isn’t that I was kicked, it’s the THIRTY MINUTE timer that stops you from re queuing for a dungeon. Now if that’s not entirely damaging to a player experience, I don’t know what is.

Remove the timer.

EDIT - This timeout also covers follower dungeons, surely that can’t be right?

I joined a dungeon the other day with some friends and died due to the tank not holding aggro and he tried to vote kick me at the end of the dungeon, guess he didn’t notice everyone else was in the same guild because he was voted 20 seconds later.

Anyway, timer is there for a reason. People abused dungeons for themselves and now everyone suffers.

It’s simple though to fix the issue really. It should be designed to deal with repeat offenders, not people who lack skill.

That is NOT what it is there for.

There should simply be a report for for intentional sabotage or bad spirits and then investigated by blizzard to deal with them appropriately. It shouldn’t be a blanket approach to ruin innocent players game play.

If I was new to the game, I’d probably have quit by now having experienced this.

I’d go a step further and say that if you are kicked then there should be no penalty as the reasons for someone being kicked could be vast.

Anyway, this isn’t the solution but, you are able to complete follower dungeons where you go in with NPCs and you can choose to either follow them or have them follow you. It might help you learn to avoid the toxic players.

And this is the reason why the penalty was added, because tanks and healers would just say “kick me I don’t need this dungeon” and get a free requeue. The matter was so worse back then no undesirable dungeon could be started that Blizzard after various tweaks made this the final sorta version.

I still stand by what I said, the reasons are too vast to group them all into a “you deserve a deserter debuff”.

I also wasn’t aware that healers/tanks did that, that is pretty low. But the debuff isn’t the answer. I don’t know what it but it ain’t that.

It’s fair to apply a 30 minute penalty to someone like you. It should be a clear warning sign - a wakup call - that you are doing something very wrong. You are making mistakes that don’t just harm yourself, but also 4 other innocent players who shouldn’t be held responsible for your inadequacies.

Take the 30 minute break to watch a helpful guide.

Very well.

I shall bear that in mind when a child accidently smashes my window from with a football and ensure they receive at least 6 months in prison so they can think about what they did wrong.

Ridiculous comment.

You should definitely punish the child adequately and make them pay for their mistakes. Make them apologize to the owner of the destroyed window. Make them clean up the mess. Instruct the child on how to avoid this destructive behavior in the future. Have them mow the lawn of the damaged party once or twice as recompense.

The child caused damage and stress to an innocent person and needs to learn not to do it again.

You get CD if you leave the dungeon, kicked or not.

Because people were abusing the LFG previously in the expansion to farm only first boss then leave, so they brought in this Debuff.

Then you say “But why have it for when one is kicked”

Because if you did not have it also if kicked then people who wanna leave after first boss would say “I’m just gonna afk here now, kick me if you want me to leave”

The issue with your logic is you’re missing the “Intent”. If destroying property was intentional, punish them. If it is unintentional, educate and seek to repair.

This is how the current LFG system should work. Repeat offenders can absolutely be weeded out. The odd uneducated person need not be punished for learning a video game.

A player should not be able to be kicked without good reason. That good reason should be moderated by blizzard. Abuse of the kick system should be punished. If a player is struggling to understand something then people should approach the player and explain the issue. If people are not willing to do that, then they are the problem with what makes a community decent.

I think if I see anymore people who believe there is no solution to this, I’ll lose faith in humanity completely. I truly feel for any new player who’s struggling to get to grips with the game, is doing some low damage or poor heals and is getting 30 minute bans from dungeons. Talk about destroy people.

The damage is there, no matter if there was intent or not. Mistakes also need to be punished. The punishment should obviously be much harsher if there was an actual intent to cause harm.

For example: if you what YOU did in Dawnbreaker was not a mistake but instead intentional, you should receive a 3 day ban for griefing.

I agree.

It happened to me in the Rookery dungeon.
I got lost after the 1st boss.
The other 4 players jumped, but I didn’t know which platform to go. I was playing a BE Holy Priest. Needless to say while I was lost the other 4 players died.

I had already died before the 1st boss because I though I needed to mount a flying mount and jumped. Instead what I was supposed to do was click on one of mounts available by the game.

“Heals was not found.” That was what was wrote in the chat.
I wrote: “Sorry it’s my 1st time here. It’s better I leave.”
I left, took the 30 minutes penalty, watched the YouTube gide.
Logged another character and proceeded to queue again, this time on a BE MW Monk.

I’m leveling 25 level 70+ characters at the same time to benefit from the rested XP.
I had already run the The Stonevault dungeon without needing a guide. But unfortunately for me that wasn’t the case for the Rockery.

P.s. I’m not confident at the moment in tanking neither of the 2 dungeos available at the moment in the War Within so I’ve been queueing as Healer or DPS. My first BE Warrior queued as Fury spec, but I want to change that as soon as possible. I guess I need to watch Tank videos for the Stonevault and Rookery.

Cheers.

You are arguing for punishing someone on a meta level (dungeon queuing suspended) for a failure to execute ingame mechanics. Holy cow. Dude. That player had paused the game for 1 year. Imagine if it had been a complete newbie. I tell you something. If that newbie a) got embarrassed by failing mechanics and b) in addition got kickvoted out of the group, they are not gonna say “oh, I realize now, I need to practice harder.” No, that newbie is going to be afraid of queuing ANY group content in the future. That’s a TERRIBLE experience for them. And while this one may (hopefully) be a niche case, it was definitely not a newbie friendly experience, in contrast to what the game actually needs to be to make up for the aging population.

Have some personal responsibility and self respect instead of being afraid.

Instead of kicking people also could just have explained. You know; like a normal person would do.

And now players are complaining because Blizz’ “solution” punishes players unfairly who are already victims of trolling players/groups when being kicked for no reason, so it’s about time Blizz realizes their “solution” is just bad.

We don’t need weaklings that request 4 people to stop dead in their tracks in the middle of a dungeon to explain the game to them. This is not how the game has ever worked or will ever work. If you need and expect this kind of help, you are the problem.

There are some crazies out there but there are some nice players out there too

I joined a group today on my hunter (SOD) for LBRS and I mentioned I need to tame a worg near the end of dungeon, which take’s about -20 seconds or something

One guy said “this coin run?”

Me “yeah”

The first guy “why we help this huntard then?”

Me “Perhaps because not everyone is such an unhelpful :cactus: like you?”

First Guy “gg im out”

He had a guild named after himself which I though was nice.

Rest team where fine though, we replaced him with someone more pleasant and went about our business completing the dungeon including the handsome hunter getting a new worg. My response to the guy may have sounded angry but It made me laugh IRL how uptight he was

Anal retentive peons are not usually pleasant to be around and they can make the rest of azeroth smell like :poop:

Is retail the nastiest version of wow?

TLDR: What’s wrong with your brain you cant’ read a couple nonsensical paragraphs?!?!
