NPC nameplate

Good day everyone, i was trying for the first time WoW claasic 20th anniversary but while NPC names appear…their title/function does not. More Specifically, I can see “Brad”'s name but not that he is a vendor. I have tried to deactivate all addons but nothing changed.
Solution?

thanks in advance

In Classic this used to be rather minimalistic.
Like the cursor for virtually everything is “talk”, with the odd “bank”.

Guess it’s been added later, like with BC most NPCs with a gossip instantly go to their function (vendor, training) and the cursor indicates certain features, such as repair.

I’m not sure but I suppose add-ons can mimic retail functionality.

So to find a vendor, I should click on every NPC I find?

I’m not sure what are you talking about.

The cursor is distinctive when you move it over a vendor. Like sack with an arrow.

I also have vendor descriptions below NPC names. Attached a screenshot to make it obvious.

Yes. And then you learn.
You’ll be a returning customer.

WoW is an RPG. Your character is your avatar in this world.

To be fair sometimes I wonder about a VR headset that shows me stuff about people on commute.

Overhead names are off by default and it looks weird (clutter). It’s an option, yes.
Name plates also tend to hide them iirc.
When a merchant has gossip, it will show the talk to cursor. It’s most obvious in banks where some have gossip and some don’t. Massive majority of vendors do.
I suppose add-ons can also change cursors.
