[N/RP] ⚔ Sellsword RP - <Gilded Daggers> “Coin, Freedom and a touch of violence”

Imgur

Founded from the gift of a Silvered ring, the Gilded Daggers is a sellsword company with one key mantra: “Freedom and Coin”.

Key IC Tenants :scroll::

  • We don’t tread on the toes of the Horde or the Alliance; No powerful enemies here!
  • When a member has proven themself, they’re given a gilded dagger of their own. This lets them vote on numerous things in the company, chief amongst them being a vote on what contracts the company takes.
  • Our headquarters are wherever we pitch tents, normally on the edges of cities but sometimes in the wilds.
  • Membership is open to most races, except for the dead and demons. If you can hold a sword, shoot a bow, or fling a spell, we probably have a use for you!
  • You don’t need to strictly be a character that does combat, but it’s probably going to help if you’re open to it, as most events will revolve around it in some shape or form, given the nature of the guild.

Ranking Structure :ladder::

Commander - The commander and founder of the company, Llywelyn Rainsinger

Officer - Directly below the commander and permitted to give orders / set strategy in his absence, the most trusted members of the company. They might also do admin functionality in some regard.

Gilded - Elites, gifted a gilded dagger after a period of good service to the company, these folks have a direct say in the contracts the company pursues, in the form of a vote, equal to the commanders.

Trusted - Another rung on the ladder, these folks are proven as reliable and trustworthy, veterans of the company.

Contracted - After a while, a parchment contract is signed, and the base pay goes up to fifty silver a day. The contract is seen as a sign of loyalty and trust within the company.

Green - Fresh recruits are given this rank, and normally a verbal contract. They get a base pay of thirty silvers a day, a mission stipend, and a share of the loot from missions.

Camp Follower - Somewhat an OOC rank, this is used for alts or inactive people.

What is it we do? :crossed_swords:

We’re a neutral sellsword company, travelling around the world taking contracts that pay well, being careful to not stir ire with the powers that be. We’re not criminals and do not go out of our way to cause trouble in places we visit.

We like to camp too, be it on the edges of a town or in the wild, for the life of a sellsword is a free one! (Although you are welcome to stay in a tavern if that is more your speed.)

Can I dip my toe in without joining you (the guild)? :people_hugging:

We like to take auxiliaries to join us on contracts, either for extra manpower or because we lack a skill in-house. Auxiliaries will be paid a one-time fee, normally half on leaving, half on returning for their efforts; Auxiliaries do not get a base pay or a share of the spoils, however! We’ll communicate ICly / Ingame about the mission, or you can join our Discord server if you prefer to get information and keep up to date. There is no expectation for an auxiliary to join the guild, however.

OOC Stuff!

  • We use a simple rolling system for events with 10+ people; for smaller events, we will use a system that has more TTRPG elements, but we will never seek to replicate something like DnD.
  • We have a Discord, but joining to be in the guild is not mandatory.
  • We travel around a fair bit, normally to areas of civilization to trawl for contracts.
  • Have a contract for us? Get in touch, we’ll see if we can collaborate.
  • We’re a bit more active in the evening, normally from around 8ST.
  • We have a good mixture of casual RP, one-off events, and more long-term arcs.
  • No uniforms
  • Firmly rooted in “WoW fantasy", although we do prefer less OP characters.

Contact: Llywêlyn, Owlwyn or Owlbearwyn for recruitment / OOC purposes.

I’ve worked with them before, they’re cool people… The Elf guy can be really funny at times. I would recommend if you like good and funny RP sessions.

Not a bad group of folks.

I hope the elf finds true love one day.

The Daggers gathered around the Recluse to vote on their next contract, three choices:

  1. Satyr’s in Felwood

  2. A forgotten camp in Dragonblight

  3. A Goblin pleasure barge with some goods in need of liberating

After discussion and debate, they decided it would be best to tackle the Satyr’s first, then skip down the Barge, as such a mission would require more subterfuge.

Dagger holders cast the votes, and it was sealed: Felwood would be the site of their next contracted. They would spend the next few days preparing for the mission, recruiting auxiliaries to fill in skill gaps, gathering supplies and most importantly, making merry, as Demons aren’t known for their welcoming nature.

((if you would like to join us on this mission as an auxiliary, please whisper me in game, and we can sort something out! horde OR alliance, of course.))

Satyr’s and Emeralds

After a gruelling slog through a Satyr camp in Felwood, the Gilded Daggers retrieve the prized Emerald, being used as a conduit to summon a mighty demon into Azeroth - they slay it in a weakened form, their diverse set of skills ultimately turning it into a rain of sinew and gib!

A well earnt victory, Hopefully the next contract is less Fel.

Stranglethorn Expedition

The wagons trudged through the forest of Elwynn, down through and Darkshire and eventually turned up in the muddy jungles of Stranglethorn, where the Daggers prepared themselves for their next contract: Retrieving Loa Idols and stopping an upstart cult, dedicated to the Soulflayer, Hakkar.

At the beachside camp, a night of dueling, revelry, and planning was first on the agenda.

For the next evening, the Daggers split into two groups, each one assaulting a smaller camp, speculated to be conduits for the main temple.

They battled the trolls at each camp, in the pouring rain, under the watchful gaze of profaned ruins, marked with the Blood god’s effigies - foul rituals were stopped and some smaller loa idols retrieved, weakening whatever was going on in the main temple.

After the smaller camps were taken care of the groups moved deeper into the jungle, arriving at the main temple (The trail of potent shadow/blood magic had been quite easy for them to follow).

They found the temple door, a hulking monolith of stone, had the mural of Hakkar too, emeralds for its eyes. Upon getting close the more zealous members were pushed back; The trolls had trapped his place. Eventually, they’d disabled the traps on the door, but as they pushed the door open, they were struck by the defenders, imbued with all manner of foul mages.

After a rough battle, where several members were wounded, the rest pushed into the temple, navigating through the dark ruins, the floor coated in a thick purple fog. More wounds were taken, but they pushed through and eventually came to a ritual site; Altars of the loa, tainted by shadow magic, spewed the thick fog, surrounded by dead trolls, who’d seemingly sacrificed themselves.

Quick thinking saw this as a ritual, clearly intended to summon some profane avatar to wreck havoc on the jungles - but the Daggers stopped it just in time, preventing a surviving troll from sacrificing himself.

Looks like a fun idea, I wish you the best, and may keep you in the back of my mind, should I wish to dip my toes. (On a living character)

Un’goro and Uldum

The daggers found themselves in the primordial ooze of Un’goro, an ancient jungle that teemed with hostile life. The goal? A mighty Devilsaur, whose prized hide (well intact) was coveted by a master leatherworker of the Artisans guild.

The daggers quickly picked up a blood trail, thanks to a keen-nosed Dracthyr in the company. The jungle remained relatively calm in the wake of the colossal beast’s footsteps. They came to a fresh kill: a Diemetradon with a huge chunk missing from it.

Eventually, after an ambush of hungry raptors and a sticky situation in the tar pits they came upon the beast, playing with a carcass!

After a brief planning session the hunt was on and after a great struggle (and some very risky air-dropping tactics) the Daggers overcame the beast, carefully skinning the pelt for the benefactor.

They rested a night in the crater, celebrating their victory…then it was onwards to Uldum. After making camp outside of Mar’at the Daggers imbibed much wine, recovering from the ordeal of fighting a devilsaur.

After a few days of Libations and games (charades), they followed a lead on a small titan facility, ripe for investigation.

After tottering about in the desert for a while, they eventually broke into the facility with brute force and flame, then descended via rope into the darkness. After shambling about by torch-light and trying to avoid the traps and sensors of the facility the group came to an old titan foundry, the fires still burning in the ceaseless efficiency of titan design. A small group braved the flames, plucking what loot they could, but the facility fought back.

Huge titan guardians lumbered down the hallway, intent on purging the raiding party from the tomb. In a desperate scramble, the Daggers gathered what they could and then created an emergency portal to the camp, escaping with most of the loot in the nick of time!

They spent the next couple of days decompressing and trying to make sense of the artifacts they’d retrieved, for selling such things can be an even harder task than acquiring them!

The Daggers have been camped out in Redridge for the past few weeks, undertaking a sensitive mission regarding supposed kidnappings of local nobility -

They sallied out to Deadwind pass, suspecting it of being the place where the mysterious kidnappers were operating from, but were taken by surprise when rescuing a would-be kidnapping victim.

They returned to Redridge, with more leads and clues to pursue, but were attacked in the dead of night, ambushed at their camp!

After a furious, close battle where many were wounded they packed up what remained of the camp with haste and moved to the Swamp of Sorrows, intent on getting to the bottom of the mystery in relative safety.

After a slog into the Swamp of Sorrows and a sortie into Deadwind, the Daggers recovered five additional captured nobles and returned to Elwynn. However, the perpetrator of the kidnappings remains at large and will likely come back to haunt them in the future.

Presently, the Daggers remain camped in the forest of Elwynn, away from civilization. Rumour has it in the coming days, they’ll be moving North to link up with the Duskrose Caravan.
