Crazy how if you make someone starve for long enough, they will start thanking you for the crumbs that fall off your food.
This community is totally on a different page to one another. For me personally, I think this system is utter garbage. At this stage of the game, the essence systems implementation was a fail and continues to be a fail even after this new “alt friendly” system. New players gain absolutely nothing from this. So much so, they may as well not play the game until shadowlands, as they will be VERY far behind.
The people who play DPS get the very short end of stick too. They will still have to grind those tank and heal essences. Honestly why not make the currency a BoA item, similar to marks of honor.
This is not that quick either, it would have been better to be getting at least double the currency of what they listed. We should be able to bang out an essence in an hour or two max. Essences are a previous patch feature that are still required to play your class optimally. with that being said they need to be obtained a lot more easily, because people are now looking for the right corruptions and having to deal with that RNG nightmare.
The best and I mean it when i say the BEST way to deal with this whole essence problem, was simply to:
GIVE ALL RANK 3 ESSENCES A RANK 1 REQUIREMENT
Within a week or so, you could obtain them all. Just exclude the 8.3 ones.

Incredible how you can be so rude and failing on the very thing you are insulting the other person for.
Just doing the 3 assaults a week (275) + all 7 emmisaries (350) + 4 runs of Horrific visions with just 2 extra objectives (400) already leaves you with 1025 Echoes before you even step into any raid/m+/pvp. So 2 rank 3 essenses a week just by doing the bare minimum.
If you are trying to gear that alt you can easily push that to 3 a week just by doing the things you would then be doing for gear anyways.
Sadly this does not seem to be the case right now. In their previous post they wrote: “While ordinarily each specific Essence must be learned in order to unlock it for other characters via MOTHER, all Essences associated with Nazjatar and Mechagon reputations will be available if any other different character has earned any of the Essences available from that reputation.”
Which means that you will be able to get any tank or heal essences from 8.2 even if you are a pure dps but it seems to not carry over to the new reputations.
You can try calculate all you want, but this system is garbage.
I started gearing my sham around a 4 weeks ago now. He has 1 rank 4, 5 rank 3 and 3 rank 2 essences, with the rest being rank 1.
So how is this system any better? sh1t in a shiny box is still sh1t.

Because you can now get essences on alts without grinding content that you don’t want. You can now just play the game and get them. It’s objectively better.
I’m glad that Blizzard listened to the people saying that the way of getting the essences was bad and not to the people demanding everything to be free.
Providing your main has all the essences for all types unlocked this is a great system, you can get essences while running cloak upgrades and other activities. It seems harder if your main wasn’t a class that could unlock all the different types of essences (Tank/Healer/Dps). Unless I’ve misunderstood the info

I hear you, but the problem is the amount of time you put to get your essence is essentially only decreased by something like 30-40% overall. This is mainly because of time gated can now be obtained much fatser, but others that wasn’t time gated may become slower. I got my blood of the enemy rank 3 on my shaman in 1 and a half hours for example.
Again, the right way to go with this, was to make all rank 3 essences have rank 1 requirements.
You still have to put in someeffort to get an essence, but it should be very litle, considering it is a previous patch feature. So you can leave players to freely rage over getting the wrong corruption effects.
That’s much more than 30~40% as that’s content you would’ve done anyway.
You’ll run at least 15 visions to get your rank 13, by the time you’re done with the cloak you’ll have at least 3 rank 3 essences with the assaults and visions alone, maybe even 4 depending on how early you manage to do a full clear
That’s content you would’ve done anyway, at least for the cloak proc and guaranteed corruption. So that’s effectively reducing by 100% the essence grind as long as you already got the rank 3 on your main.

Unfortunately, I calculated as well considering I was looking forward to take advantage of this system.
It simply doesn’t work like that. There are essences you can get FASTER by not using the system.

15 vision runs, don’t those need like 4 weeks to complete with current timegating? Or 3? I haven’t calculated how many vessels you get per week with the “buffs”, I know you get 2 (12.5k+6.5k+3k weekly) and the rest from daily spamming?
So…about 4 vessels per week is the cap?
3 as you can get up to iirc 5.7 runs per week without the chests / events / rares ect. (could detail the total if you want). Alliance players should earn about 6 runs per week with the WM bonus tho
That’s what i plan to do as i want to gear two alts at the same time without investing too much time on them. Just gonna do the assaults and visions, with maybe an emissary every so often.

So you burn out after a single 10-15, one raid clear and 3 assaults?
2-3 days… yea… learn how to count mr. grind-defender 24/7
I’m seeing 3 essences a week if you log in for two days. 3 assaults, raid, a single key around a 12, 2 emissary blocks, and getting your cloak to rank 6 from rank 1. If you don’t do the raid that drops you down by 240, but you can comfortably make that back up if you do play the character and say… Bash out a couple 10s with guildies, which you’d probably do anyway if you actually want to gear your alt.

if people have fun, they can stay and play the game. if ppl are meatbags for rank3-4 lvl5894 geared hardcore nolfiers with flying mounts then they wont play
Actualy most people burn out after finishg LFR since at that point they cleared entire game content. Rest is nothin but repeating same content on just higher difficulty which for most people isnt something exciting to try bother.
