Haven't seen any mention of this before but there are a few comments on US forums saying the BfA pre-patch is removing the option to select old character models.
Seeing as the new models for female gnomes are all utterly hideous I've been flying around all the old places taking some nice screenshots just in case it's true and they are basically killing this char for good tomorrow.
Reminds me of all those old posts you used to see about "What will you do on last day before WoW servers go offline?".
This has been my main char since vanilla WoW and I've already paid for BfA but if this is true I won't be renewing my sub when it expires in 2 weeks. :(
Is it really so hard to keep the option for old models or even make the new ones look semi-decent?

It's gone. Just checked my Beta client.
The only ones I don't like are the new orc models they look so dorky and cartoony compared to the grim, mad and ugly orcs of vanilla.

They are removing all models that involved those polygons.

I agree, the thing i loved the most in WoW were my female gnomes (almost all my chars are gnomes), old model cute faces and animations, i dont feel like playing anymore with this change.
New models for gnomes changed them too much, they dont look like before at all.
*EDIT* I made a quick Photoshop change of how i think new models could look like, dont understand why they have those strange eyebrows, eyeliner, undereye circles, contoured nose and kinda fake lips.. :| Dont wanna sound harsh, they are cute in a way but as i said i think they changed them too much from the original characters. :(

They should have just removed the option to keep them when they revamped the models back in WoD. I sincerely believe that.
To promise players they can keep them, then change the skeleton rigs over time only to remove them completely is lame though. To get rid and change as other things change in the game all the time would have been a better option I suspect.

No, they should have done a better job with the models. Not revamp them. Just update them. Like they did with the warlock pets.
Without the old models option, I can't play the game anymore. I've made my main characters in vanilla and have had an attachment to them. Now, with their new looks, they are alien, foreign characters, not the ones I've created and played for years.
Talking mainly about gnomes and tauren, who look comletely different in a very negative sense.
