They were gone when they updated the skeletons along with animations. Whatever you have been playing with the last years have been an amalgamation of the old textures slapped on top of the newer models.
I much prefer the updated gnome models. Maybe you can get used to them?
I don't mind changes. I do mind my new angry fugly face.

I just got new faces on most of my chars. Somehow never got them before.

Another reason to say bbye to wow. Not being dramatic here, i find myself more and more not willing to play anymore.
All the fun has been taken out by idiot decisions.

Went away for a few years from early in Panda somewhere, untill mid Draenor. Did all the work to lvl all my 27 top lvls. Found Ashran was fun! Untill Legion hit and pvp was killed with the ilvl !@#$e. So i quit bgs.
During Legion, pretty much all i did was click to make gold, go for achies and collect mounts and stuff.
Then a load of achies were deleted. And now again.
So, what does this game have to offer me now? All i do is make gold to buy tokens. Pretty senseless...
On top of that, they destroy my toons faces.
Pfew, they are ugly!

I hate the new character models. To not be informed and just slide this change in is bloody annoying. The gnome female are horrendous...

Pathetic. Again, blizzard keeps pushing the wrong updates for the wrong reasons.
Free legendary item because of bad pre-patch launch, really ? that's the best you can do ?
Now we're stuck with updated models with the wrong proportions and moving around like they've been born from a human laying with a cow. Great.

At least it consoles me a little the fact of not being the only one to be mad in seeing the character with whom I play for 8 years with his face ruined.
At this point I'm considering paying for a change race (going from human to draenei who are the only ones i like which have not been totally raped) ..... But I dunno if it's worth it:
Blizzard has not announced anything of this new in the patch notes (nice move keep us in the dark and invent this revolutions AFTER we have pre-purchased the expansion -_-) and i do not imagine if it is in their plans to reinsert the old models or if they consider them gone forever.
Some explanation from a Blue would be really appreciated also because until now we are all just making conjectures.

Btw...i know that the elimination of the old models is probably related to the new scheletron used for the animation but I would have liked an official confirmation before waste 25 âŹ......

Its sad and sneaky if Blizz really keeps it like this this, they know very well that a lot of ppl would not have bought BFA.

You should consider that it can be a bug, since I can't see any reason why Blizzard would remove them without announcing it.
There is a lot of good reasons to get ride of those outdated models IMO, but there is no reason to not announce it.

There's cartoony and then there's cartoony. There's disney cartoons, there's japaneese anime cartoons. there's simpsons cartoons style and then there's more realistic ones such as various super hero comics, and much much more. It can span all from stick figures to realistic style.
Blizzard didn't used to do a Disney cartoony style, they were on the more realistic side of things. These days all I can think of is Disney when I look at some things they have done.

Honestly I think the mejority of races look MIIIIILES better now.
Especially the Tauren, Dwarves & Orcs.
Though there are some races like the F Gnomes (who just look depressed/hung over except one face) & M Night Elves (who mostly look really angry).
Warcraft was never a series I came to for visual realism.
Hell I'd argue it wouldn't have aged nearly as well if realism was it's aim.

I was forced into the replacement ugly Night Elf face on my main in Legion, and since then also Draenei. And I started a Tauren before 7.3. I couldn't play her after. I just left her, mourning, in Thunder Bluff.
I havem't forgotten my characters.
I don't just despise these botched changeling models, I truly despise the people who deliberately broke their word and betrayed their promise to keep our characters recognisable.
Well I finally logged in and sure enough I look like the baby from Eraserhead! Not happy.
A full face helm is not a bad idea though, hadn't thought of that... or maybe goggles. Anything to cover the bug eyes!

Yeah, but it's not ideal. I wanted my pink pigtails to show, and they will be squished inside the helmet. I can't see the entire posts l posted on the general beta feedback in 2014, but it started like this: "I just checked what they said on blizzcon about this. "High priority to keep the soul of the originals". Well, the fact that l stay short and keep my pink pigtails is not enough to keep my soul intact. The soul is in the eyes, and it's ruined. They broke my soul!
This sucks. I wonder if it was because certain races (such as night elves) couldn't use the old models because of Illidari and the new Allied Races, so instead of fixing that they decided that nobody should be able to flick the old models on.
