Old Content Rant

We got 93 dungeons and 45 raids of wich 11 dungeons and 5 raids are “current” wich means we got like 90% content completely irellevant and useless. I think Blizz should really figure out a way on how to make old content relevant. I mean the best expansions were good because most of the content was not useless content. Now the only reason you run the old content is to get transm or pet and you just wanna mindlessly breaze trough it as quick as possible. Wich is extremely dull and boring. I like the new expansions i do enjoy it, however the feeling that you are walking on the tip of the iceberg is there and you can go and have a look at how the rest of the iceberg looks like…but why. Why you should do that you get nothing from it. No challenge, no satisfaction an useless achievement? Wich at the back of your mind you know that you didint even “earn” it but simply got it by runing over 50 levels lower mobs. I am not saying i know the answer to how to fix this, but its definetely bad as its stands. At 1st look when you enter the game it feels oh wow there is so much content, but as you dig deeper you realize there is not. You got 10% of “current” game and 90% stuff that is completely useless.

We got timewalking just because of this, and please tell me how for example during wotlk (which is praised as one of best) was TBC/vanila content any relevant?
Or how was during TBC(also one of those better by many…) vanilla content relevant?
Imagine if they had to tune and balance 45raids… Hell.

Even worse, imagine if there were 45 raids over 16±years but u could just do very first one and still count as “geared for curent content” u know how fast it will get boring?..

even thos it was irelevant the “Dead” content was not as high as 90%. Another expansion is coming out this number is gonna go even higher. So there goes that. Timewalking is good, BUT its an event that occurs very rarely. I am not saying they should just boost all raids/dungeons to level 120 but i am sure they could be a way to make old content relevant and not just mindless gold farms. And to be fair Time walking instances DO drop “Current” gear and i would rather have 45 raids with many possible “current” items/item builds than 90% game that is DEAD.

Well, im pretty fine with way it is now. Cant imagine farming 45raids to be viable.
Also if its not curent content those who dont raid can at least see raid from inside and drop some tmogs

Like i said i dont think they should just boost instances to lvl 120. But there are many ways they could make old content relevant. Also about WOTLK even tho it had lots of old content. Most of it you couldnt even solo (all TBC even HC dungeons)

How? Realy interested

I just want Suramar as a capital city

Keys with challenge modes. Crafting recipes/reagents that only drops from specific game modes. Like i said its not for me to figure this out. But withing a minute i manged to get few ideas .

Old expansion raids are done for. No point in making them relevant for the current content.

But, making EVERY SINGLE CURRENT RAID relevant, is another story.

It’s a massive shame, that the moment a new raid shows up, the old one is instantly garbage.

im pretty much with Alexima on this.

as much as i love some old dungeons and raids, i dont want to constantly run them for reason x. i go there when i want pets, transmog or old materials or whatever and thats about it. that makes them still relevant for me and thats more than enough.

i d love for current expansions raids to have more relevancy though.

imagine having to run old content on top of the new one just for the sake of it, yeah no thanks.

It has always been like this even in Classic. How relevant is Molten core with Naxxramas out?

WoW has always been and always will be about current expansion. They will never change that. Thats why we pay for current expansion and not for older content. Imagine you would have to buy every expansion separately now

cant agree more and i think they know this is a problem many have with the game but are too lazy to fix. i wish they would also make a symbiosis with pvp and pve gear too where you are able to balance out your res gear with dmg gear like wotlk

think i did not get the memo as i soloed the eye for ashes back in wrath

Lets say i can imagine this, with somehow limited ilvl, maybe even talents for said content ( less talents for classic than for legion for example) with some transmog/mount rewards, could work.

Depends on what will those provide tbh, if its somehow gear relevant i cant imagine it, even if its something like pots or flasks, maybe enchants, when u cant solo those raids, and only reason to do them will be those recipes, it will most likely be guild exclusive stuff…

There’s nothing to fix.

All content is relevant at some point as you aren’t going to be jumping into endgame content on a newly rolled level 1 toon.

Game is over 15 years old so there’s bound to be old content. I doubt that Blizzard have either the resources or will to revisit each old expansion to make it ‘relevant’ for every new expansion released.

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it wrong, that’s just your opinion.

We should make landline phones and horse wagons relevant again!

I think it’s a shame that just because we moved a bit forward in time that they are now irrelevant. Who uses a walkman anymore? No one.

Also bring back dial-up modems! Everything needs to be relevant again!

If old content was relevant and could drop relevant rewards, think how much longer your list of daily and weekend chores would be! How many of us have time to run 45 raids per week?

I don’t mind the current system. I like being able to go and solo old content to try and get things I want, and I like playing the current content for challenge.

Can’t say I’m a fan of time walking (mostly because it’s too often horribly tuned) but someone raised the idea of time walking keystones, which could be a fun idea to add more challenge. If it was part of the rotation of weeklies, it would also be an extra challenge to see how high you could get your TW key in that one week.

When you had Vanilla WoW + TBC you had only 2 tiers, so when TBC was current, Vanilla was irrelevant so only 50% of the game was unused, it is growing with each expansion, because there are more, and more things left behind, it’s natural. I would love to have something like in ESO, you can go anywhere at any level, everything will scale to your level.

Actually almost all dungeons are revelant if we include the leveling process. When I level a new character I can do every dungeons from vanilla to legion except a few ones that remain available only in heroic mode.

For dungeons they can make the small fix to create normal version for every dungeon that only has heroic mode so it can be played while leveling, and every dungeon that it is max level only for previous expansions should be available while leveling.

Also with Party Sync currently a level 120 could play every dungeon if he plays with a low level character. It would be great to have the option to be able to Party Sync low level dungeons without a low level character.

It has been changed recently. Starting next week Timewalking is permanent, it will rotate weekly between expansions.

But they are relevant. Either for leveling or for transmog/mount/pet/achievement farm.
