Hey guys, I just learned engineering on my main, and was wondering is there any usefull engineering stuff from past expansions that is still viable, and how is it called?
Engineering is all about personal coniviences, and almost never provides something to player performance. So its not if its āviableā you should ask about. BFA engineering provides one competitive item, and thats the engi helmet that can be improved up to ilvl 450 if you put in the time in the Eternal Palace to fully upgrade your abyssal forge.
But from past expansions:
Wrath of the Lich King: Jeeves repair bot and personal bank for Engis. Needs repair bots from Vanilla, TBC and Wrath as crafting components among other things. But those can be made by others as they are not bound.
Moll-e mailbox, likewise from Wrath. I use it all the time. 30m cd.
Nitro-boosts runspeed tinker from wrath. Puts you on battle potion cooldown if used now. But it still useful to have in a pinch. Pandaria offers the goblin glider tinker, which is a permanent glider, saving you from buying the single use ones.
Teleport toys can be found in every expansion line save cataclysm and is insanely useful.
Cataclysm offers the arguably best engineering conivience the loot-a-rang toy, that lets you remote loot everything around you every 3s. Very long range.
TBC have the engi only gyrocopter mounts, but requires you to max out outland engi, which is super sadistic if you do not have mining.
Ressurection. WoD engineering have a out of combat ressurection item, which is godlike for any class that cant ressurect. BFA have a battlerez consumable, however its point blank range and you have to stand on the victim.
Reaves bot from Legion. You can get a quest for a permanent version once progressing the lenghty engineering questline. Which among many options provides a teleport around the Broken Isles and a second repair function.
I strongly advise having a miner to feed your engineering, as it otherwise will cost you VERY big $$$, and AH may not even have enough of the prodigous amounts of old ores youd need. In particular outland ores.
Wow thank you so much, that was exactly what I was looking for!
