OMG Why is Story Mode Dimensius SO HARD?

A 10 minute fight is a bit overkill for story mode. Didn’t mind the different stages as it gave it some variety, but health could have easily been slashed in half.

Was not aware that I needed to summon my mount, so I died once as well, but that’s on me for not reading anything other than “Flight cast on you!” and thinking I needed to press an ability. An ability I couldn’t find while plummeting to my death.

Instead, I’m just thrown into a random fight with unknown tactics

Shift+J opens the raid journal that will detail the abilitys and phases of the Boss. From there it’s just learning what to do.
It’s the same for everyone entering for the first time.

I actually thought it was bugged till i realised you need to mount after your pulled through the first phase. I do think for storie mode it should at least promt you to mount rather than letting you fall to your death like a lemon.

It does prompt you. It says “Take flight” in the middle of your screen.

I did story mode. It’s fine me.

But sometime mount can be bugged if it dont load. I’ll learned it fast

So a bit of an attempt at a guide:

Phase One:

• Don’t stand in stuff on the floor
• If you’re being pulled by gravity, run the other way
• Adds prio

Phase Two:

• Static flying is easiest, mount up and go through the rings, they should be fairly visible. Land on a platform.
• If you’re being pulled by gravity, run the other way
• Run to the side of the platform with the NPCs when there are big lines on the floor
• Beat add up
• Rinse and repeat

Phase Three:

• Don’t stand in stuff on the floor
• Don’t go into the blue outer ring
• Use defensives when the big expanding purple rings go off (though as a tank I took 0 damage, may have had a shield on)

I hope that helps people struggling with it. Sorry if it doesn’t.

Good for you, but they definitely can die, cause I had to use Intercession on almost all of them - lucky for me I kept having 6 of them (which I’ll grant you was weird)

You cant be serious? Do you just look at the numbers on keyboard when you play or do you not look at the screen? It literally tells you what to do every step pf the way

I died twice before I realised you had to mount up, and then proceeded of fall off the side another two times as I am so drunk. Will get it later lolz

But this shouldn’t be necessary in story mode, because you’re not actually doing the raid.
You should be able to poke Dimensius and have him fall over or look at the NPCs while they make him fall over then get to watch the cut scene and voila: campaign is now done.

But for some bizarre reason Blizzard went “oh, we know what all the non-raiders want! They obviously want the raid experience for no gd reward”

Can you imagine the Dimensius fight in LfR? (inb4 “Well, LfR was a bad addition too!”)

This is the first fight where it’s possible to fail in story mode, but it’s easy enough if you know what you’re doing (In the “General gameplay”-sense, all i knew was a very rough rundown of the phases on WoWhead, so i knew there was a flying phase, but nothing more than that), i one-shotted it on two characters, only got close to messing up the flying phase on the second, when i lost sight of the next circle.

I don’t know I haven’t ever tried story mode. I just join raids and play with real people. That was what made WoW great in the first place.

The story mode is not even close to the raid experience. It is no more difficult that Queen or Gally was on same difficulty.

In terms of difficulty I’m sure you’re right, in terms lay-out of the fight it is. It’s story mode, there’s no reason for there to be “phases”, there’s no reason for this “fight” to take 10+ minutes. The people this mode is made for (as in: People who don’t raid on normal/heroic/mythic difficulty, maybe not even those who’d brave LFR) don’t care about seeing the different phases of this fight, and frankly they shouldn’t have to.

So much THIS right here. This is STORY MODE. It’s not meant to be “challenging” (Although I use the term loosely, actually, it’s not even this that’s annoying, it’s just unnecessary) it’s just meant to set the narrative for what is going on in the World. The fact you have to google stuff to complete the thing sort of destroys the whole point of what it’s all about.

For anything else there is LF/Normal/Heroic & Mythic raiding.

Tried it tonight. no chance. could not even get past phase one.

not going to try again until I totally out gear it.

A couple of K gold trying to run it and then not having any weapons due to the durability damage is just pants.

I feel that in this case (Contrary to Ansurek, where they left a phase out, IIRC), the flight part is important, since it shows the sheer magnitude of the fight and Dimensius himself.

That being said, if the flight part is really is a stumbling block for so many people, i figure Blizz will automate it (Like a flight path), or something like that.
