On ZG/AQ20 and tryharding buffs

There are two things that are kind of a nuisance for a player who plays every reset:

  1. Guild members making a ZG/AQ20 pug group who push it in every way possible (Discord, ingame, etc.) who will try to guilt trip as many into them as possible. Best way if you really don’t want to go is ignore it completely or try to hide on an alt while setting all your Discord, Bnet etc on offline.
  2. Guild members who do ZG/AQ20 and get every worldbuff under the sun for way to easy content and then try to guilt trip you into getting the worldbuffs or feel bad about not having them because they put a lot of effort into it and they may do better then you.

Reason I’m so annoyed by this is that if you require/demand every one of your guildies to come to all of your ZG/AQ20 pugs, that is the best way of burning out everyone in your guild, especially if you make them tryhard way to easy content and then use the logs as an epeen meter.

Easy fix for organisers: make it a pug group with fair loot rules. But no, to get optimal benefit for themselves you obviously need to abuse your guildies and reserve everything.

That said, I still enjoy AQ40, BWL and MC so GG Classic! Have fun!

here’s the thing, for some people, they want to do ZG/AQ20 until they get their drops, and then they just don’t sign anymore (or want to bring in alts to get boosted)
meanwhile the guildmates who helped them get their gear still need drops, and want to make use of those powerful characters to make the clears as smooth as possible (after all, why else would that guild give them loot if not to make the next runs smoother and faster)
I can see some guilds (especially ones that are loot driven) “forcing” geared characters to come to the 20mans, especially if there are still raid beneficial drops there (ZG enchants come to mind) if you don’t like it, find a guild that does not apply this rule.

I appreciate making this a discussion.
If a guild would make it a nice experience (not one as described in my post) I would consider going more often with the guild. But as it stands, even if I want to do a ZG/AQ20 I’ll have a far better time doing a random pug. It’s a game, so I play for fun and not to feed gear to the officer’s 2nd alt.
Take in mind I don’t need anything from either type of raid regardless, but I’d still rather join a pug than a guild raid under these circumstances.
Because a pug raid is happy that I come, won’t force me to tryhard buffs/performance, and won’t mind if I don’t feel like it another time. Remind you, these raids reset every 3 days.

Also, a guild ‘rule’ needs to be specified and not be implicit. If you make it a rule that for attendance numbers you are required to join AQ20/ZG say so! Why are you like ‘you don’t have to join’ but then try everything in your power to coerce me into the raids nonetheless?

I agree that it should either be a rule or not forced.
on the other hand guilt tripping someone is not forcing them, just say no if you don’t want to do it, but be ready to be firm about it.
If it happens regularly I would look at the reasons why you don’t want to play with your guild mates though and consider changing to a group of people you do enjoy doing raids with.

I really enjoy every single AQ40, BWL and MC with my guild
Adding in ZG/AQ20 could lead to a schedule like this:

Wednesday: AQ40/BWL
Thursday: AQ20
Friday: ZG
Saturday: off day (most people don’t play)
Sunday: MC
Monday: AQ20
Tuesday: ZG

That’s 6/7 days where you would be expected to come! That’s way to hardcore for most people.
And before you suggest combining ZG/AQ, because of the need to pug this usually doesn’t happen in practice. Finding pugs takes time and finding pugs inbetween the two means unnecessary downtime for everyone.

Shrug as I said, explain you’re busy or just say ‘no’. be firm about it.
no one can force you to do anything you don’t want to in game, most they can do, is bench you or remove you from the raid group, at which point you politely thank them for the fun and go look for another guild that will suit your needs.
