its not really a misconception, this is how I think of it… I hit 2700mmr once, just like you hit your highest once. In a season where Assa Rogues and Mages were stupidly good and a ton of rating inflation. Even though their still good now, they have less survivability etc. Question you should be asking yourself is did you get that because of your class being insane, rating inflation OR did you get it based off you being good? only way to know is see if you can do it again, then you’ll know.
Alot of people get high ratings on a fotm class and comp and never get it again, there’s a massive skill difference in people who get R1 once and people who get it every season for example, same goes for people who hit 2k once. You should be mindful and hope we are not those people and will do it again each season.
Then why didn’t you get it in the easiest season with the biggest rating inflation ever seen? don’t assume you’re worth anything until you actually get it.
Yeah, the meta playstyle and setups still haven’t been solidified so we’ll probably see some variation for a while.
Yeah, its actually good into them as it adds cover buffs for your Combustion and Alter time. It’s saved my Alter from being purged vs those a few times. The more globals they spend on purging the less dmg they will be doing to you also.
Every single player hits its maximum in a season with inflation. Even the best of the best, some are 3.6 now, were they before ? No. Same. Did the best Rogues in the world get 3.6 as Sub ? No. They did as Assa. They might still be the best as Sub though, they were in Legion, they are now (so far). But the good state of a class, and the inflation, is the same for everyone. Every single player. Take the both of us for instance. Assa was great. Fire was even better, having access to even more S tier comps. Yet, we didn’t reach the same rating. Interesting, is it not ?
As for
Then I know. You’ll understand.
As said above… I don’t need to hope I’m not one of those any more.
That was sarcasm. Of course I’m not worth most of the 3150 playing my class as I was unable to reach this rating. Just like you most likely aren’t worth most the 2800 mages. Yet, maybe, but still.
Sight. They need one GCD to purge your entire ward arsenal. I actually watched some RMP games into that comp at high rating (the rating at which people don’t wait for Alter to start purging a shield that is 50% of your HP bar) and the shield just vanishes when popped. Always. No value. But anyways. It’s good against one, maybe two purges as it indeed protects other stuff since at least one enemy has to commit several GCDs in a row to remove everything. Against three… no one has yo commit several GCD if they don’t want to.
Difference with those players is they are top of the ladder every season, regardless of inflation. Question is can you get 2800 without inflation? can I? guess we’ll see.
Okay, well… we’ll see wont we, I hope you don’t get a harsh wake up call that ego is at the wheel though.
Nope, I wouldn’t say so, I played at 2700 comfortably and won 18 games lost 6 when I was there, then stopped playing as pre patch was a week away and people couldnt be bothered anymore. but I still wouldn’t consider myself a 2700 Mage. I’d say 2600, but I didn’t get the CR to back that up so people can dispute it if they please.
Only other Mages can purge all my barriers at once.
If you hold your barrier and use it then use alter right after if they are bursting you they can’t pre purge them. But you have to know when the dmg is coming to effectively do that.
It’s the rank that matters… think… you need to check how you view the wow ladder my dear. My best was maybe top 300, 275 at best. If top 10 is 2700, will I do 2850 again ? Of course not and that wouldn’t mean I played the season worse. I could, in fact, be R1 at 2710, and I’d still not make 2850, but I’d have been the best player in the region.
I’ve hears that before when I got my first ratings in the past. While what you see on PvP check is the best on my Rogue, and my best at all, it’s not the first time I get rating. So the time for the wake uo call is long past. Sorry to disappoint.
Indeed, since you are not. MMR always gets higher than rating when you climb. I had 3k MMR several times. Yet, I have not climbed to 3k. And so, I am not 3k.
MMR is a game to game measure. increasing your CR shows you compete at your MMR and steady climb. You can be 3k MMR and 2k5 exactly three games later. You could win games at 3k MMR because match-up and lose 2.4 for the same reason. Rating shows the climb.
Rsham Ele SP, which I mentionned, can purge in one GCD. I said it. Now, since it didn’t go through, I’ll explain why. They all have a purge.
So uh… you let your health vulnerable so you may Alter, which is a more valuable CD. Strange decisions. It’s like I’d not use my vial to Cloak and then press it and say “hey I heal as I’m immune to damage now”. Would be much better to Ward a lasso, as now they can’t triple purge it, so you’ll take little to no damage aaaand no need to even alter on that go !
Its the first time you got past 2700 around 6 - 7 months after the season launch, the achievement date tells me that. My point was can you get above it again this season, maybe you can… but maybe you’re also not as good as you thought and the class/inflation was the reason you got it. You shouldn’t be close minded to those possibility’s or you risk be coming complacent. I learnt this from playing quite alot of sports outside of games. Its a valuable perspective to consider.
Still, thats 1 global each for all barriers, then another global each to get Alter time or SlowFall or Arcane Int, 2 globals in this metas pace is not small. Also I even talked to a few R1 Mages on my list about it and their exact reasoning for playing it vs everything was for what I mentioned, cover buffs.
My friends moved over, I went hoping to continue playing with them, but their RBG enthusiasts , their on 2761cr with 2.9k 3k MMR atm so their all grinding RBG rating. I’m left with LFG xD… was not a well thought out move at all.
If you check the date the account I’m posting with was created, then two things. Either I got high rating in the past already on an other account, which would explain why I act like I don’t have anything to prove, or I didn’t and this account is my first ine, so the multiple 2650 I got during BfA, starting in S1, were my first ones ever, right after playing retail for the first time, and I was able to make it happen again up to my current maximum, all while I, apparently, have at best two years of wow played ever.
So you see, in both cases, I think I’ll do just fine.
Yes. It’s an attitude commonly found in people who spike high for the first time(s), sports, video games, or other things. As I said, I’m past that. You’ll reach that point if you haven’t already.
Ah well, we’ll see, hopefully you do. No ill will or anything, just saying.
I’ve being at high levels in quite a few sports that I tried, once I was on an international level. Its a mind set I tried to maintain as it always kept me focused on improving and reminds me that failure is a possibility no matter how good you are.
The only thing about the boomkin is, is that it takes a lot of set up. It’s a filthy ability yes. However it’s less filthy and disgusting than WW, Combust or ret pala’s because you can interrupt it. Also in some way it’s like Infinite Stars, it just targets a random enemy. So if you happen to play with a UH DK and 20 pets out it will just deliver a flurry of 16 spells on all the pets.
