Onyxia and aggro in P2-P3

Solution to threat problems.In phase 2 have tank and 2 dps warrs stand on the main tank so they get threat dropped when she does fireballs instead of the tank.P3 Onyxia went straight to our main tank doing that.

Just have all dps who can’t reset threat eat 2fireballs. Fireball will drop threat of everyone taking DMG from them.

When Onyxia is landing at 40% just have every dps, except the fury warriors, use Gnomish Cloaking Device. It resets your threat and one of the fury warriors will get aggro of the Boss. Make sure your fury warriors are not running around in full leather dps gear and actually have a shield in their inventory.

There is no threat reset at the beginning of p3 as I have seen written over and over.

The ability that resets threat is the fireballs as several people have figured out by now. However, it’s not that simple. Onyxia will target the player with the highest threat, however if more than one person is hit it will reset the threat of the person hit who has the lowest threat. Hence she will spam fireballs at the main tank as he/she will not have his threat reset as long as you have someone stack on the tank.

Tldr: Have a person stack on your tank in P2. Will ensure tank never have his threat reset.

I’ll point your problem out. She never resets aggro.

Nobody does.

So what ive experienced so far is:
Phase 1: people can do what they want as long as they do not over aggro Tank (pref OT as well) Just in case.

Phase 2: Dps all you can in the air, the people who gets hit by fire balls are the only ones who get threat reset. If the Tank gets hit, his Threat will be reset! when you bring her to phase 3 only wand/auto attack her down while tanks runs under her and use sunder/ what ever they use for threat.

Phade 3: When she lands make sure who ever gets the aggro runs straight to tank spot, if its the tank = good, if not keep people running to tank spot until she target the tank. DO NOT DPS before a tanks has the aggro!

Our guild does this tactic works for us everytime. Only thing that goes wrong is often that dps get greedy with the meters and then hell is loose :joy:

Phase 1, wand/autoattack
Phase 2, nuke her
Phase 3 (just as she lands to avoid AOE fireball death), everyone apart from Tank stand on the wall - she’ll target the tank. Give them a min to build aggro and go for it.

Ranged/healers can stay on the wall for the rest of the fight.

This is the ONLY thing that resets aggro, P3 shares aggro with rest of the fight.

The trick apperas to be that if you share the fireball damage with other people, it doesn’t reset agro. We go in with 2 tanks that stay on top of each other and they never drop threat in p2, after numerous fireballs.
In any case, the boss is a broken mess and Blizzard are clueless, as usual…
