even though I did nothing but dodge in P2 and was hitting a whelp as P3 started. I guess she really doesn’t like that as she wanted to toast me even with putting on a bubble. I was off the scale on threat and seemed nobody could get above me. So if it wasn’t cos of hitting a whelp either the tanks kinda sucked, a hunter did a thing to make me top aggro (they have a thing for that don’t they?) or it’s a bug. Any idea?
Basically, every person that gets targetted with the Fireball in P2 has their threat reduced to nothing.
If you didn’t get targetted by a fireball but all of your warriors did, then you were higher on threat than them.
Hunters don’t get misdirect until either WoTLK or Cataclysm. The only thing they have in Classic is feign death, which usually drops threat (can resist). It doesn’t give that threat to someone else.
(Night Elf hunters also have shadowmeld, dunno if it works the same though)

As ret don’t have a ranged attack I’d be amazed at any ret that is able to be in top 3 of DPS when P3 starts.
Im amazed he is even top 3 at start of phase 2

Garbage raid for sure. Me topping threat after P2 happened twice too. Pretty sure wipe 4 happebned because the tank managed to get punted down the whole length of the whelp pit.
Seems like everyone you play with are really fkin bad.
You know in Onyxia’s Lair, that being on top of threat doesn’t make the raid garbage… it makes you garbage… 
sounds like someone was not dpsing very very slowly!
Also just FYI you can melee Onyxia when she is flying. You just can’t autoattack. (which i realise is most of Retardins dps 
)
You are doing so bad DPS during phase 1 so when onyxia cast fireball in phase 2 (threat reduction) on every other player you will be highest on the threat table.
This, we usually just AA and wand to phase 2 in order to let the tank be high enough for phase 3.
That didn’t save some warlocks the tanking duty time to time though.
Amazing, so I somehow both DPSd too hard and DPSd too light in P1. Or it just sounds like someones making assumptions. Wasn’t my first rodeo, I just did what I would normaly do.
The other DPS was pretty bad, my damage bar stayed visible rather than getting pushed off the bottom. But I thought I’d DPSd pretty carefuly and kept to white damage. Just did what I always do a typical Ony fight. Yeh this pug had issues for sure.
Gonna try the getting fireballed option. See what that does. And also never PUG a run with that guild again.
Yeah it happens, has happened to me before.
Stopped all threat long before the come down and she still went for me, what you do in this situation is go to the tanking spot and tank and or die.
Do not run away or kite that will wipe the raid.
You just gotta run to tank spots and die pretty much.
one way to avoid this is to nuke with enough ppl and dps to skip p2 entirely which is possible if you have good geared and enough ppl popping cds before take off hp % etc
Oh and watch ur threat. Even if it means doing trash dps, you cant do dps if you’re dead. You must MATCH your dps to the group, if the group are bad you CANNOT overthreat, this will wipe everyone.
Better to do poo dps than to take aggro from undergeared and unexperienced tanks. That’s a gg right there in a raid.

DPS is not the only thing that generates threat. As a paladin, in particular, blessings generate a LOT of threat. More than heals.
Did you cast any blessings and/or heals during P2?
Worst case scenario is having 10+ warriors/mages/priests (the typically stacked classes) and casting greater blessings on all of them.

Other than hitting whelps dont think I did anything else. Certainly wouldnt try and heal anyone in ret gear. Though I think I did throw a couple of little ones on myself. Shouldnt have even noticed against what the actual healers were doing. Don’t think I buffed anyone. I’ll make sure I dont anyway.
Hunters didn’t get that till tbc days, so that’s not in classic
