Hearing about this kill, it kinda made me sad/empty inside.
Why did we all pursue that BiS gear when it is not needed at all, why loosing sanity over SGC or HoJ not dropping?
Why do we farm gold for expensive enchants, seems like wasted time?
Why farm resistance gear, be it nature or fire, why flasks?
This kill cheapened all drama including legendary “more dots, whelps -handle it”?
What about all that talk about crushing blows, only warriors can tank etc. Many myths has blown up like a baloon with this.
Was “you think you do, but you dont really” spot on?

The characters becomes your identity in game basically, if you look cool and have the right items other players gets jealous.
Carrot on a stick for the mount is the same as epics for a player.
Vanilla is a framework where people create their own game. Some do Onyxia naked, some stack 34 T2 hunters for world record kill on Onyxia while others create alt empire. There is no one way to play or one end game in this version of WoW.

Also keep in mind how different the modern age is and how every player is so much better now and has THE ENTIRE wealth of the internet available unlike before.

The run was done fully consumed with flasks and world buffs. the players in that raid had more damage stats on their characters, than what the classic first kill had.
While it is impressive, its not insane.

no its not spot on. while we may remember elements of vanilla or tbc differently than they actually were (we were new, bad internet, no 15 years worth of knowledge, simpler mechanics etc) what that guy was trying to deflect when he said “you think you do, but you dont” was people bashing retail all the time for the linear path blizz were forcing you down, while increasing the insane rng. the reason why so many cried out for classic is because retail has deviated SO much, and in a bad way. of course it was, and is nice to go back to classic, as we have not been able to play it in that format since 2009ish, but i would suggest the reason why classic has been so popular is because retail has deviated so much from what the early years were (vanilla, tbc, wotlk).
and alot more sleep.
What the point of killing target that are AI scripted in a game ? I mean, do you enjoy playing vs bot ? There’s no surprise that a bot can be killed easily. The only way to make a bot very hard to kill is overtuning.
If you want hard content, goto PvP. Player are not AI. There’s nothing hard in PvE.

As others have said… did you see their buffs???
Also, they were 40. It’s common to go Ony with 25, with good people you can 10-15 man it. And didn’t hunter pets tank or sth? And their HP isnt affected by being naked is it?
In its current state, pvp (aka Premade vs pugs or premade dodging) is not hard content.

Casters have a good amount of base damage on their spell ranks (in pre-1.12 vanilla you’d have first done ony with 0 +spelldmg anyway) and with all the world buff/fire protection pots I wasn’t surprised they had the damage for it. The tanking was the most impressive part of it - very cleverly done with the paladin casting greater BoK on the mages to generate aggro through righteous fury.
To be able to clear something more difficult than Ony? Just a wild guess.
Full WorldBuff is like being well geared so they aren’t really “naked”
These buffs are so powerfull you should know that.
Remember, knowledge is everything even if Onyxia or the Classic PvE content is “easy”.
You can do the same ridiculous kills on retail where the content is way harder.

The REAL question is, can YOU personally do it?
Just cause some pro guy drives cars in complete insane mode in the WRC, other pros do insane stuff in the Red Bull Rampage (seriously, look it up), F1 drivers, Aggressive Urban Inline Skaters… (you get the point), 33 Hunters 50 seconds Ony Kills, naked Ony kills…
Doesnt mean by any means that you and me and everyone else can pull it off and by no means makes the content “easier”.

Because most people want to blow through easily, not fight a hard challenge. We know AQ and naxx are coming. No one will be doing that crap naked.
You can turn the game into a joke even on retail.
Just search for the : 30 mages nya’lotha / 20 tanks mythic nya’lotha etc…
Knowledge allow us to faceroll even hard content
It’s litteraly the same except that Classic’s mechanics are way easier.

Buffs and consumables are better then preraid gear. Naked means no armor not no weapons, rings, neck or trinkets.
Keep that in mind.
