*Tl;dr: Make free character migrations TO HWL happen for all those who left the server at the end of BC because they thought it would close. Same for those exiles from ZT and Celebras and everyone who likes a small, but strong community.

Yes, I know Hydraxian Waterlords is very, very low pop at the moment. Even for RP Server standards. This, though, is Blizzard’s doing, or at least the (maybe unintended) consequences of their handling of the RP servers in general during the end of BC and this server specifically.

I would like to add a second problem:
During the beginning of WotLK there was a certain loop where people could transfer to Hydraxian Waterlords for free because of full servers - and could migrate again for free off said server. This second one did last quite longer that the first.
So besides this one influx at the launch, there has been a steady dripping off the server until Blizzard closed this transfer option.
Where I want to go though, is the following: During the end of BC the RP players where split into all directions and to all possible servers. Besides this one spike at the launch there was and still is no way for them to get to the one existing RP server without spending a lot of money or starting anew.
For them, the free character migration TO HWL would be a chance to get to a place where they can actively RP (it is still done) and while the server will never be as full as the big ones, it would be fuller.
We already DO have a strong community, it could be even stronger with just a little help.
Of course, even without free character migration we’ll be happy to welcome everyone who’d like to visit, even on an alt.
I second this request.
I’m not just addressing role players to join our HWL community, but also those players who would prefer a smaller population, who is caring and supportive. Of course, those are always welcome to join events and the RP communities.
Our raids are casual, working hand in hand to improve together and experience the content in teamwork. We’d like to see more people who would enjoy this approach.
Therefore: Please open FCT to HWL to give this realm and those players a chance, those who might be stuck on a high population realm or even cancelled their subscription because of a regretted decision or frustration because of an environment they don’t enjoy.
I started off on ZT, then moved to HWL when I saw which way the wind was blowing with regards to RP realms being shut down. I took a break for a while, and just returned recently. Since then it’s been a real struggle to get groups for any sort of group PvE content. I’ve gone entire play sessions in the last few days without seeing a single other player, and it’s just kinda depressing tbh. I don’t mind small communities at all. Sometimes it’s nice to be part of something close knit, but there’s a huge difference between small and empty. I think if we got those FCTs to HWL, it would improve things dramatically for the better. Don’t let HWL die Blizz!
I do not think the problem lies in scattering, rather than people are slowly loosing the interest to the game when release hype settled down. RP community focus more on their events and there are more casual raids among them as role-playing take many time that could be dedicated to improving raiding performance otherwise.
This is a generalization that I wouldn‘t sign. I‘m a dedicated roleplayer and am raiding Ulduar, and improving, though in a casual environment. It‘s not A or B. Sometimes it‘s both. This is what HW offers. You can have RP, plots, character development, events, but as well just do PVE/PVP. Either/or and both. Nobody holds a grudge against the other party, it‘s a fairly good eco system here. It just needs some more people to protect and live it.
If I read Ironforge Pro correctly, your realm currently has 86 active raiders? Why would anyone transfer there? Just transfer off and go to another realm. It sucks for you lads but that’s how it will be. Pay to leave, not FCM into a sub 100 pop realm, never gonna happen. They probably want to be rid of dead servers like Jin’Do, Giantsalker etc
I second this motion. The current state of HW is a joke and something should be done. The RP players are shattered around on different servers, so Blizz should open up free transfers from all servers TO HW. That way the people that prefer RP atleast have an option, and the snowball might start. Noone is gonna pay for Paid Character Transfer to a realm with 86 active players.
The community of ZT all transferred to Earthshaker during TBC because we were of the impression that all RP servers would be closed. With FCM to HW some parts of that community could choose to return to a RP server.
If Blizzard doesn’t open FCM to HW they should just shut the server down. All the players from ZT that didn’t play in TBC had their characters transferred to HW without being allowed to rejoin their friends from ZT on ES because ES is closed for PCT. Allowing those players a free transfer to ES should be an option if Blizz doesn’t do something about HW.
Afaik recently a guild settled intentionally on Jin‘do
Granted, there are not many player who prefer lower pop realms and a close community over PUG raids, a massive AH and so on, but they do definitely exist

Most of us have already transferred one character off to play on reasonably populated realms, how many hundreds of currency does blizzard deserve from us, that we are to fix a problem they created with FCM off?
Its 3 years into classic, most players are not 1 max level andy.
Blizzard apologists who tell us we should just Pay to Move, please check Hydraxian Waterlords on IFpro at 2021/11. This is the month blizzard opened up FCM off the realm and crippled our 1000+ raiding population.
Its not our fault this happened, why should we foot hundreds of $££ to play as we were?
Blizzard should really just open free transfers from every realm to Hydraxian. Due to Hydraxian originally being listed to shut down, a lot of people moved off. So RP players are all over the place on the EU servers. Having free transfers open would at least give those players who want RP to come back to Hydraxian at no cost. It makes no sense that free transfers aren’t open right now. Please open them Blizzard.
So much this. Now that Lakeshire (where many Celebrasians initially moved to) has been overrun by… different mindsets, maybe even germanspeakers might consider building there own german community on a dedicated RP realm. The guild Lilien von Stratholme will tell you it works (as far as I know, I’m not playing alliance side right now )
I’ve been running a casual raid group since wotlk launch that catered to roleplayers and those who needed a little direction towards success in the 25man raids.
It took very little time and only soft guidance to get our raids done in a single night, and after a few lockouts, we we’re doing the same with Ulduar.
I think the celebras refugees in my raid group were all amazing and where any language barrier presented itself, there was no shortage of friendly german players to help out.
I would still be continuing these raids and welcoming people from all raiding abilities and languages if we had any players left.
You just can’t run a hobby community without regular new people becoming involved, attrition strikes everyone, and you lose players for whatever reason, there’s no helping it except having new people to replace them.
