Opinion : If microsoft decides to scrap the subscription model and

If they do that they kill WoW.
Without recurring revenue, resources can’t be permanently allocated to development of game patches and expansions. They would need funding and approval from Microsoft.
Honestly look at every F2P game out there. They are micro transaction hells with inconsistent content support and no major expansions cause they can’t fragment the population they are trying to milk money from.
If you want less content, more micro transactions and pay to win and an influx of obnoxious children, then go right ahead.

Wows prob still the 3rd biggest after king and cod

Two great games tbf

They won’t. Microsoft already has an MMO called Welder Scrolls Online and it maintained the exact same business model, including the subscription. (Though there it was always optional)

And under this system, all the people who play WoW for M+ and raid, and aren’t interested in cosmetics, will suddenly not be paying anything at all.

How will this work out for them?

MS doesn’t do anything about wow. WoW is like a fart in the wind regarding this acquisition. Anything that will happen to it like that is gonna be decided by blizzard, unless wow goes into the negatives financially. Only then you should expect something.

Their strat right now seems to be that they make expansions shorter and sell them more frequently

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Not like they do anything about it anyway considering how long the rank 1 spots in solo shuffle have been occupied by scripters/botters

the free to play model is going to be complicated in this community.

this can entice bad behavior and tightening gatekeeping by bureaucratic
type of players in this game whom do like raids and mythic+ or in classic
gearscore fans. I would agree for retail to be f2p but have classic sub only
if retail is perceived to have quality of gameplay low then f2p is fair.

Umm i dont think so, MS knows the potential of WoW and will not just sit idle. They will be showing a lot of interest

Did you ever think maybe it wasn’t trying to be Skyrim!

ESO launched with the same business model as WoW, box and sub. They screwed up the initial launch and eventually went free to play. Except this time it worked out for a game. Although, that had more to do with fixing the game’s issues than the monetisation.

I think your right

an average wow player is always against changes but when that change happens they’ll defend it so the answer is yes. everyone here will be fine if they scrap the subscription model. paying for a dlc(seasonal content) every 6 month & buying the expansion every 2 years is way better than keep paying for sub

also cheaper if they put it on xbox pass. 9,99 euros per month on any game whereas WoW is 12,99 a month.

it´s all about them likes and subscribe. Microsoft will become the Netflix of gaming if they start putting Blizzard games into their platform.

Right now as we can see, Blizzard are not welcome by the Steam community, Let see how well they do with Microsoft stuff.

sounds like a online game with very limited game play Ishayo

also the review bombers on steam has been targeting pretty much every game lately so i wouldn’t take the score seriously for any blizzard game

It is very sparkly though.

Also, I don’t really mind the review bombings. Blizzard takes away the old game and replaces it with an inferior version for no reason. This is the danger of live service games, and it is borderline a scam.

They deserve their scores.

yeah i still can’t believe they though it was a good idea to replace the og warcraft III with Refunded

a lot of people was looking forward to warcraft 3 reforged but they did such a awful job with it

It’s not just that, but there was also an auto-purchase bug in Overwatch 2 and Blizzard refused to issue refunds for that, and the season 1 cancelled PvE not being delivered yet no refunds, and stuff like that. They’re just straight up breaking the law, scamming people with that game.

Diablo 4 isn’t a scam, but the end-game also isn’t very good. It’s an okay game, but nothing spectacular, and its Steam score reflects this.

They absolutely 100% deserve their scores. I’m glad they’ve gone on Steam now, gave them a wake-up call. No more rock star feelings over there I hope.
