So, whats the best site to go use to download the Addons Manually? Is it still CurseForge?
Considering Overwolf owns Curseforge⌠go there with adblockers only.
Thatâs exactly what it is. The dev who made wowup wrote:
Yesterday I was approached by a member of the Overwolf team who essentially told me I could either join them by embedding WowUp into their framework or stop using the CurseForge API.
Nothing has been finalized yet, but I can guarantee there will be no embedding of WowUp into the Overwolf platform, that is the entire reason WowUp was created.
Thank you for sharing that!
Woah this is really scummy move.
Is it wrong to hope for everyone in overwolfs management go bankcrupt?
Reminded me to uninstall twitch-app since I got no use for it anymore.
There is no way i install this malware program. I will use manual download/install like old days.
A lot of us feel this way, I really donât see what Overwolf thinks it can achieve by trying to force people onto their platform
Nope not at all.
Same here, was due to go through my addons during Pre-Patch but will do it this weekend and set up bookmarks to the Addon page to be able to quickly update
I assume youâre wanting a more sophisticated answer than Money?
Everyone should tweet their disgust and annoyance on their Twitter page.
Hopefully if enough complain they might reverse their decision.
I only used details and rio this expansion I used weak auras for gift of titan tracking and got rid of it after, might even try going addon less next expansion.
What bothers me the most is a third party company going in and INTENTIONALLY ruining and trying to make a buck of a thing, addons in this case, wich has been an enthusiast thing for years, and just ruin it for profit.
I donât get it
Blizzards addon policy even encourages addons to be a side thing that people do because they love the game, not because they want to make a living off of it.
Blizzard should seriously make their own addon manager at this point.
If anything, this would benefit them if they decide to make some addons profitable by allowing more ingame modifications ( Think new hairs, etc )
Iâd like addons to be managed this way, but also I would love it if totally optional mods for hair, armor fixes and things like that could be pre-approved by Blizzard then put on the store for a nominal one-off fee.
A bit like they do for Fallout with Creation Club.
I hate creation club from the bottom of my heart, but in WoWâs case I guess since its a fresh start Iâm willing to tolerate.
Anything is better than nothing, and blizzard wonât do us this service without it being profitable.
the best thing would be for blizzard to just make an addon section of the battlenet launcher themselves
but there are other good addon/mod programs iâd love to have addons on, maybe nexusmods could make a wow section?
It would open up a lot of new options that would actually help Blizzard themselves, and of course the creators would benefit too.
Iâd pay for new skins that could give people things like Dark Ranger skins and so on.
There are some amazingly talented creators out there and I donât feel that Blizzard include the community enough.
I would ADORE night elf worgen.
This would have not changed anyway. You think overwolf would actually have paid addon makers, hah.
Overwolf is kind of company that pays pittane first to big makers to get them to their serivice, then does everything to get monopoly, gave cancerous program that runs on adds and when they have enough control they make their program even worse, demand devs money for being part of their program and make it sub-system along with ads for customers.
There is reason why no one uses overwolf (Atleast no one I know). How they even got money to buy curseforge from twitch?
