I have heard Blizzard has decided to go with no mounts for the paragon chests because people have complained it’s too hard A.K.A “too lazy to farm a mount”.
I want to know what other motives are there at the moment to do world quests? I personally only do AP world quests which is very meaningless too but other than that there’s nothing exciting.
A few pets and toys as a reward is NOT exciting at all.
I think it’s much more exciting to farm a paragon chest in the current zones than farming a dungeon mount with a 1% chance every week. You could have just buffed the drop rate to something like 10% than just removing it completely.
People did not complain it’s too hard, just awful in design. 1% drop from a box that takes weeks to get while the reputations were lackluster baseline was a bad idea and a spit in the face.
Haha, now this is where you are wrong. I’ve been farming these mounts since day 1, yet I only recieved 1/3 of Army of the Light paragon rep. So, the issue is not lazyness, but RNG. The increase of RNG (not only for mounts, but for other stuff, too) is probably the worst thing that happened to this game.
In 8.1, I don’t think they want us to do WQs just for toys and stuff. They said the rewards will be upgraded time after time.
Actually I feel like I never have good RNG but I don’t care about not having everything this game has to offer from day 1 it’s offered.
It’s this sense of entitlement that “I must have everything” with no grind that ruins the game. I much prefer to have a rare mount that has a lower chance to drop than a mount that everyone can easily get.
Even then the best solution would be to increase the drop chances and not removing mounts. It was the only reason world quests stayed relatively relevant throughout legion.
For me, not getting the mounts I was missing for an entire expansion (from when it was introduced) isn’t really a good system. I for one am glad that they’ve removed them this time round. Ironically I got the Drake from the Valajar and the Carpet from the Nightfallen, many times.
We’re all different. Some like the paragon system, others don’t. However it has absolutely nothing to do with being lazy.
Wait, did they confirm that there won’t be RNG mounts in BfA paragon caches? That’s great news, I hope there won’t be any pets, toys or other sorts of collectibles in them as well. Those should always be available on quartermasters once you reach exalted. You’ve already worked towards that reputation and got exalted, no more grinding, no RNG or any other funny stuff.
Paragon caches should never have any sort of collectibles tied to RNG, much better to have stuff like gold, resources, crafting materials, follower equipment and augmented runes in those instead.
I mean I don’t have many many mounts from old expansions that I played and never had any issues with it. I understand that mount collectors don’t enjoy this, but what percentage of the community is actually just mount collectors?
i swear players like you £^"%&*(^%£ me off and are part of the issue (imo) why blizz doubles down on rng. WQ’s were never a good idea for major content (which is what they now are). their only purpose is to keep you doing them when you might be doing other stuff. you claim people dont want to grind but want everything. as this game gets older, so do the playerbase. we dont have time to grind for ever. BUT we are also NOT saying give us everything for nothing. as replies in this thread have said, people ARE farming these chests since they came out but still missing mounts.
most sane people, in my opinion, look at reward A, decide they want it, DO the task to get it, then EXPECT to get reward A. this is only logical. having a <1% chance to get reward A after DOING the task is what annoys people in my experience in game. (but unfortunatly not in forums for some reason). Then having to REPEAT the task possibly forever if rng is against you. if you are having to use your luck on rng, would it not be better to use it on a lotto ticket rather than a virtual pony? lol
before achievements came in, my only goal was getting reputaions exalted on my main. and i have done this each expansion, with ALL exalted on this one toon. i think the “bonus” rep is a terrible idea. especially with the timegated nature of WQ’s. then to have mounts connected to them? aren’t we faced with rolling the dice with enough other things without adding more.
This. it was like this for about 12 years. there was no need to change it. unfortunately as punyelf has said, BfA chests will have pets/toys/shinys still.
As I keep saying, people keep complaining and what do you get? A stripped down feature of something that is actually good in the game.
There is nothing wrong with mounts in paragon chests as they were in Legion. As no one is forced to grind the content, it would mean that people might actually stay in game to have a chance at a mount.
For people who collect mounts, it’s not laziness it’s probably the fact that most mounts in the Paragon caches aren’t even that exciting, but that’s subjective.
Personally I farmed them throughout Legion and I’m still missing a fair few of them. I just don’t have the motivation to go back and try and obtain them on all my alts like I tried with in Legion, but I am doing them on my main.
You are much more likely to be willing and put time and effort into mounts you actually want, but as a collector, eventually you want ALL the mounts you can collect as possible for completion purposes.
