Patch 11.1, game freezes for 3-6 seconds randomly, in dungeons/raids

it seems like a it is a common issue and most people claiming that it has started to happen after the 11.1

I am having the same issues, exactly after the same patch.

3080ti and 5800x3D

I have already tried every possible and known solutions for these kind of issues. So, either we will see a blue post that accepts that there is an issue or I will have to uninstall the game.

I have worked over my UI for so long and I don’t want to start from the scratch. I don’t know if I have to uninstall the game, I’ll have energy to reinstall it start from the bottom.

Same issue here since 11.1. Getting random freezes in m+ for 3-6 seconds.

PC is fairly new, like 1 year old.
CPU 78003xd
GPU 7800XT
32GB ram

Same issue here, freezes on pull in M+, usually on boss but sometimes on trash for 3-5 seconds.

7800x3d, 4090, 32GB RAM

DDU uninstalled drivers and went with drivers from December, made no difference. Cleared all addons/weakauras, no difference again

First dungeon of the day with AMD Freesync turned off and details addon not running and I got a freeze. Will do more testing but doesn’t initially looked like either of those changes have helped.

Two more dungeons two more freezes so not the Details addon or AMD Freesync.

A bit more web searching suggests this may be a more widespread issue with the recent Windows 24H2 update which I do have. One set of discussion seems to suggest that update can cause freezes if you have windows Auto HDR enabled which I did.

I have now turned Windows Auto HDR off and turned off HDR on my monitor for good measure. I’ll let you know if that makes any difference!

I do not have auto hdr enabled, even HDR enabled, yet I still have freezing and stutters after everything I tried.

Seems switching to Directx 11 fixed it for me, or at least havent got any freezes my last session will update if it freezes again even with this setting.
Kinda sad also could not use DX12 on my old rig as it was causing swirlies to flicker, oh well indie company cant keep up with modern stuff

Running with Directx 11 and also with Auto HDR turned off and still getting about one freeze per dungeon. Sometimes its no freeze, sometimes it’s two per dungeon but averaging out at about one per dungeon.

Anyone got any other ideas why this has started happening in recent weeks?

This is becoming unbearable. First I thought it was in Undermine only because of density but now the entire game is microfreezing, including the Tauren zone which is basically a flat strip of land with nothing on it.

As for Undermine specifically, all those 4x4 Darkfuse farmin groups and Blood Tokens trading groups aren’t helping with overall performance in the zone.

For me is completely random, although it happens mainly in m+ which is the content I do most often. But as I mentioned, it’s completely random, it happens while I’m pulling mobs in m+, it happens while getting out of buildings in Dornogal, it happens while interacting with the actioneers, etc, etc, etc…

It happens in the beginning of m+ every time and can happen later.

same here … it all started after the patch. .

Ryzen 5600
AMD 5700 XT
never had problems before that and didnt change anything either…
All drivers updated and my windows is on 23H version

Ok got one again even with Dx11, about 2second freeze, also our tank had freeze at exactly same time (we were on DS) first pull in cinderbrew, i did not notice it freezing there previously so while its random time seems it seems to happens for all affected at same time.

I play regularly with 2 other friends, and one has the freezes and the other doesn’t. We haven’t had yet at the same time, so I think it’s not related, although, could be for some specific cases, don’t know.

Had it happen to me on the last boss of Cinderbrew with all the effects going off. Definitely not a CPU/GPU issue as I’ve done the fight multiple times without issue. Just entirely random that it happened now.

Was a +7, and I didnt get hit or die during it amazingly lol

Just noting a few things from the thread and my own experience to help people not waste time trying things others have:

  1. It’s not slowdown/lag with a catchup speedup effect. It’s a game freeze and then resumes whatever is happening a few seconds later. As far as I can tell it’s not alllowing game input during the freeze.
  2. It’s happening to multiple people in multiple countries but not everyone.
  3. A similar problem was reported by some during the 11.1 PTR and most people, myself included have only experienced the issue since the Undermine 11.1 rollout
  4. The freeze happens intermittently. Not fixed interval or fixed events. Once it happens it doesn’t immediately happen again. My own experience so far is that it’s very rare to happen more than once per mythic dungeon. I’ve had it happen during both quiet and busy times of the day.
  5. It happens on AMD and Nvidia card systems.
  6. It happens on DirectX 11 and 12, although some people report DirectX 11 reduces the frequency.
  7. It apparently happens on Windows 23H2 and 24H2. I’ve only tested 24H2 and there are broader reports in the Microsoft community of 24H2 causing game freezes. Some people have reported going back to 23H2 helps. You can rollback if you updated less than 10 days ago otherwise it seems to require a Windows reset. Don’t do a Windows reset without first backing up your data!
  8. It happens with or without HDR / auto HDR set
  9. Some people report high CPU usage at the time while others report normal CPU and GPU loads
  10. No one is reporting any temperature issues at the time of freeze
  11. Disabling Nvidia G Sync or AMD Freesync doesn’t remove the problem
  12. Running windows 11 AMD gfx drivers rather than latest radeon gfx drivers seem to give different results initially but then settled back to same issue
  13. Disabling the recent Blizzard addon monitoring change does not remove the issue

Feel free to add to the list, I’m sure I must have missed some things.

[EDITS: Added to the list: Free sync / G Sync. Added running windows 11 approved gfx drivers instead of latest radeon download. Addded disabling blizzard addon monitoring]

Since this weekend the game is microfreezing like clockwork every few seconds, the exact same interval. It’s not just massive fps drops and new assets loading onto my screen.

Even the low traffic areas of Dornogal City, such as next to the Siren Isle Zeppelin are acting up. If I take two steps outside what is for phasing purposes considered city boundary, game performance instantly improves.

I’ve alway had pitiful FPS in the Undermine but it was sufficient to collect gold race medals. Now I can’t even drive for a couple of seconds at mid-speed before bumping into every object in my way. Literally unplayable.

I have exactly the same issues, alot of changing settings and testing didnt do anything. sometimes it works fine for multiple keys in a row. and then it freezes 3 times in a run. usually 1 to 5 seconds. with most of the time death as result.

Tested with both windows 10 and 11 systems. with and without addons. this problem started in 11.1 and has nothing to do with the claims of new windows 11 updates as far as i can tell.

Old pc build – Win 10 i7 9700k 2080Ti - This system is on win10 because older game issues in windows 11 and my partner didnt wanna go back to 11 untill things work properly

My pc win11 13700k - with cpu patch applied. Bios up to date. Gigabyte 4080.
every game works flawlessly its just freezing up 4/5 times a day for a few seconds during keys. i have 90 too 250 fps even in dornogal. there are no fps drops prior too the freezes

Interesting thing happened in a mythic dungeon just now. No freeze but I did have a 3-5 second moment where frames and input slowed right down. Was still working just well enough to move out of some swirlies though. I haven’t experienced this before since 11.1 but it is after removing my radeon display drivers and using the windows update drivers instead.

I’ll report back after a few more dungeon runs

Group farming goblins for about an hour now. The freezes come and go. I’ve been disconnected multiple times and so were random members of my party. Not using any addons which would impede performance and got nothing running in the background. Sometimes I get a minute or two perfectly smooth gameplay and other time the micro freezes appear almost as permanent.

Reformed group on my own layer and it felt good for a moment but it turned into a slideshow again the moment different group phased in on us.
