Well you know… When you have 1 PVE spec and 1 PVP spec and there is only dual spec then you have to change and respec with one of those every time you:
Change arena partner
Face too many counter comps
Get enough gear to switch spec in pve
Have different spec for 2s, 3s, BGs
I’m respecing my PVP spec couple times a week, it is just tedious it’s not about gold. Triple spec would solve some of this issue and every player that is in my guild or my arena partner thinks the same because you just sometimes need and “different tactic offspec” or in pve you need other spec when raid composition changes. But i do understand that you don’t understand this, what is your competitive play? Fishing? I bet it is fishing…
Respeccing takes hardly any time at all, and if you’re doing it as often as you say then you know your talents off by heart - I do and I don’t respec that much. I think the only point of the four you made that I see as being a possible repeated spec changes is maybe changing Arena partner. Enough gear changig in PvE to change spec? That’s not common at all.
You understand that I don’t understand? Well I guess I don’t even need to say anymore.
its an interesting point that - there are lots of ‘do this and do that’ for best result pages - but in my experience they are not that accurate.
I have gone full frost to level my mage in WotLK - the output is far higher than expected of frost - but I have not taken any talent in any other tree - I have just gone full frost - works well - its an easy build - and good for anything up to Heroics - I’d take a closer look if I decide to Raid with the Toon - but to be honest full frost offers utility a lot of raids would accept.
I think when min/max really became important was Cata - I remember that my SP build needed to be completely hybrid to get decent output - and that expansion introduced on screen weak auras for talent procs.
I thin too many people are over thinking class talents - and far to many websites are more invested in content / revenue than offering real insight.
Its an old game - highly enjoyable - not too difficult.
I am using more add-ons for WotLK than I ever had before - but that’s just to make life easier - modern machines don’t suffer lag with them - and QoL Add-Ons are worthwhile,
Guessing you mean resetting your talents. Because players will chop and change specs at will instead of specialising in one main spec. I’m surprised they allow changing of two specs anywhere you want.
A dps in a group might say to the leader “This healer is awful, I can respec and heal with better gear” and they boot the healer and they go back and respec - but if this cost 50g the player might not be so forthcoming about it. Removing reagent requirements for abilities such as vanish means it’s used at will, whereas with a reagent the player has a second thought about it.
You could say the same about repair bills, or anything in the game.
