I know, that this problem has been already discussed in some way, but it is so irritating, that I must touch this again. What exactly is going on? I don’t have blizzard authenticator and I’m not going to have it, but without this authenticator you can not in group utility tool:
1, change title of m+ group,
2. add description of the group,
3. and what is the heart of the problem: if you don’t have any m+ key - you can’t list the group.
It means, that if I don’t have m+ key, to get one I have to hunt a group who will invite me. In case of dps with low ilvl and low dungeon rating it is like mission impossible. Now we have such funny times, when ppl with low gear don’t buy paid carry runs, but by m+ group finding utility build their own carry group. They just invitie players with gear much higher that their own and that would be enough to finish dungeon. It is possible, because now there is a lot of high geared ppl who just want some quick valor (my opinion). In such situation, even with ilvl 250 but low dungeon rating (my active rogue), finding group even for m+2 becomes a big challenge for dps. I can’t create my own m0 group to get a key, I have to camp m+ group tool, refresh it few times in minute and hunt for m0 or any low m+ that will invite me.
So. Screw the first two points I shown above, it could be a prize for me for giving blizzard my telephone number. I do not agree with such behavior of the company, but I could live without them. But with disabling ability to create own group, even only under some conditions, things have gone way too far. I pay for thee game, I don’t get it for free. And I dont get what I pay for. It must be changed, mr Blizzard.
You should not be getting a prize for doing something so basic as downloading a mobile app. These limitations are there to prevent throwaway accounts from flooding the premade group finder and not to punish people not using it.
You may not agree with having to use it, but I have to say it’s pretty ironic that you’re apprehensive about giving out your phone number to a company that you’ve already provided your full name, address and most likely credit card information to (meaning they can already find your number if they would want to) - what do you think will happen exactly?

I don’t need it. I don’t want it. Especially when:

So, it also is harvesting my personal data and sharing those data with other companies. I pay Blizzard money for the game with real money and don’t wish additionally pay for playing with my personal data.
sorry but what, I dont get it, what pay for playing, the app is free, only thing you pay for is the wow account as everyone else, and I never gotten any adds and stuff to my phone buy having that app.
Well you have a choice here to make either get the authenticator or don’t. Complaining about it is useless. The only thing you can do about the app is stop paying and hope many people have the same opinion as you. But i doubt most of the playerbase has the same thoughts about the app as you. I personaly don’t.
The OP is making a fairly reasonable post, the replies are borderline trolling.
It’s an additional layer of complexity and an additional opportunity for a security breach.
e-commerce does not store your data, but rather the authentication to access it from your bank at your instigation, so that counter argument is simply wrong.
And he’s got a point, it’s additional hassle aimed to combat the boosting problem that it did not solve and simply inconvenienced players.
