People don't get why Voidforging>Titanforging

I kind of like that we have to play around new rules once in a while, and find the most efficient path.

One more reason to continue to not playing Retail, more casino elements is terrible.

Not much change then.

This just adds more RNG on top of the existing RNG. I mean now you have like a 1% chance something will void-forge with the buff you want like extra damage on crit and then another 1% change to have little enough corruption on it so you can actually wear it without dying in a purple haze. I mean 2 items can void-forge with “10% extra damage on crit” but one has 15 corruption and the other 1 corruption. How is this better than titan-forging? With titan-forging you just had to get the titan-forged item. Now you have to get 2 tumblers to roll your way.

The current Benthic system is much better. All the items are the same level just like void-forged items and if it rolls “forged” it has a slot or avoidance stat or a speed stat. And you can upgrade them. Just make the Heroic and Mythic version able to upgrade further. Then Heroic people will have better gear than normal and Mythic people will have better gear than Heroic.

Honestly under the void-forge system I will cleanse any corrupted items I get and if they can’t be cleansed I will vendor them. The buffs are just not worth the de-buffs. The void corrupted zone = raiding with a loaded gun to your head and creeping death = raiding while infected with ebola. Picture this raid mechanic = all players need to stand in a specific spot not to get killed by some overpowered boss mechanic and then “SURPRISE!!!” void corrupted zone spawns beneath your feet that kills you in 5 - 8 sec. Sorry thank you for trying.

This new system is way better than titanforging, but I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. From the clarification that Blizzard has provided, I think it has a decent chance to be a great system. Considering that you probably won’t be wearing more than 4 corrupted pieces (and that’s at the very high end), you don’t need to farm until your eyes bleed.

On top of that the biggest positive here is that you can now get the best gear only from the hardest source of content (mythic). I really disliked the fact that my gear was pretty much identical to heroic/normal raider’s even though I do content that’s much harder. With just that, voidforge is a blessing. As to whether this new system is good by itself and not just because it effectively removes titanforging, I don’t know yet. I’ll reserve my opinion for when this hits the live and I can see what it’s like.

No. This is wrong. From their own post:

The system is bad. Bad bad bad.
Do not want. Remove corruption. Never let it hit live servers.

I think it’s a step in the right direction and it’s removed the stupid rng on Ilvl. It depends how the ilvl is implemented for the different content, will mythic 10 drop the same as mythic 20, it should be higher.

You can now also target bis items and if you don’t like the corruption bonus cleanse it but at least you know how to farm an item with a specific ilvl instead of being lucky with Titan forging.

Mythic gear ilvl is 445 right now, and the max ilvl cap is 455. Items can TF that high. The issue here is not that mythic raiders do not want competition, but rather that TFs aren’t as rare as some make it out to be, and if you add to this that you can ‘easily’ obtain 430 gear from different group content sources (mythic +10s, a single every time the warfront is up) just creates situations like what we had since the expansion started: by the time you move past heroic raiding up to mythic most of the items dropping from there is simply a downgrade.

The issue isn’t just with TF mind you, but with the way the gear distribution was designed for this expansion. Over time it got worse of course since with the way our stats scale sockets began gaining more and more power. From 10 for the first socket and 5 for the following ones up to one socket can worth a good 15 itemlevels now.

As to how this whole corruption system will work out we will have to see. I personally do not like the idea of gear having multi-layers of RNG to force you to keep rolling and rolling to get the bonus you want will just make the whole situation turn out what happened with benthics. Right now you cannot get sockets on corruption-forging gear, so it is up to question if they will ever be able to forge sockets, and if not how will you get your hands on socketed gear? I doubt that Blizzard would axe an entire profession just to keep the power levels in check.

I remember when 8.2 launched with pearl farming and essence farming I struggled to keep two characters more or less on par for a solid month. Now we will have the new essences to get, this new gear to constantly roll and hope for good corruption procs, and on top of that we will also have the legendary back to level, on top of also having to farm AP (which will likely be the main source of reducing your corruption levels too) is a lot of grinding for a patch. I am not sure this time how long will it take for me to keep 2 characters raid ready (4 specs, basically.)

I just dont get it at this point. Everything that sucks they just make suck even more. Pls some company has to save us and make a good mmo please some1.

… and this is why I already have considered calling it a day. This system just does not feel fun. I thought players wanted less RNG and disliked Titanforge for that. Now you with each pacth we get closer to the Diablo 3 or mobile games. Where developer becomes visibly desperate to keep players on not because of meaningful content, but gear rng.

The cynical side of me thinks that they are making a system so bad that TF will seem okay again

… me too. I mean 2 days ago i did not care if TF is or isn’t and gets removed, but in my country is a saying : if you think something cannot get any worse - nature finds a way. And this new system sounds genuinely annoying.

So, basically, Void-“forged” items is a big F-word-You to all people who actually have a job and life outside of computer.
And if your tongue isn’t long enough to persuade some Guild Master that you can’t get the required iLvL for Raid since to get the iLvL you have to Raid first, or if they notice you’re visually-impaired person (some eye problem or motor function problem that doesn’t allow you to play like some sort of pianist) you’re crap out of luck.

430 I just do world stuff (500 conquest, pearls, mechagon and world bosses). 430… Not even done and it’s wrong I’m able to end at 435 (somehwere) by doing Bejeweled with no forges, but alas here we are…

I think we should keep titanforging- just let players do it themselves with valor tokens instead of waiting for that perfect planetary alignment.

sell it to whom ? causals who will just leave game like they did in WoD ?

there are no “limited time items” this time around to chase good gear. hell there is not even anythign like green fire quest. no garosh looms to farm .

basickly unless you raid there is no point playing 8.3.

yes you can farm a bit emmisaries but what will that get you ? 435 ? all my alts are atm +/- 422 itlv - farming thise 10 + itlv just to have a tiny bit smoother leveling in 9.0 ? seems pointless

i could effectively skip this who patch and it wouldnt matter.

i bet that FF14 devs are partying hard since yesterday now that they realised thatblizzard not only shot themselves in both feets but also in the head with this change.

Imo I Just see so many downsides. Imagine a very realistic scenario --> trinket drops with some good but currently unfeasible corruption for your character (you’d gain too much corruption) so you can’t use it right away. You want to use the trinket because it’s a good upgrade, you could cleanse it or other items to equip it, but at the same time you know that with the next reset or two, you will be upgrading your cloak, which grants corruption resistance/etc. At that point, after the upgrade you would be able to use the new, shiny corrupted trinket

Your options then become:
1 - Don’t use trinket for X amount of time until you can stomach the corruption
2 - Cleanse and potentially never see that trinket drop with that or any other corruption

Neither option seems particulary great to me. The whole system just seems frustrating to me :man_shrugging:

yeah its for sure better then titanforging + theyre just testing around with this one. ngl im kinda hyped about 9.0 with all the recent changes and how good classic is performing

On this light I rather take titanforged. The issue with modern systems was that when you get new item and it is not upgrade. now you get item, do not use it for a month-scenario is equally bad. I feel void-thing does not improve the system, it only alters it and not for better.
