4 days ago I saw someone with epic mount, same thing yesterday. I’m not sure how it’s possible to get this amount of money in such short period of time.
Do you think these people were exploiting the game (layering, bugs, gold sellers) and should Blizzard investigate this?
My guild mate hit 60lvl two days after joker, he got two boe epics drop and sold them, got 1000 for mount. He used only layering hop like everyone did.
I watched alex almost daily, he hit level 60 7 days after launch, he got his epic mount 2 days later. What did he do? he did every single quest in the world, had skinning and herbalism and skinned herbed every single thing and vendored it all. He had most things to himself.
Maybe it has something to do with 1.12 dropping more trash you can vendor? He seems surprised himself he was able to afford it. He used layers to get hold of 30 pieces of black lotuses but he hasnt made any money from the lotus yet because they werent selling. He afforded his mount basically by just vendoring everything he looted and ofcourse not buying the spells he didnt use from the very start.
It was possible in Vanilla just as it is now.
I bought my Epic mount 10mins after I dinged 60. Took me about 15-20 days played.
I sold flaming skull shield for 720g, the rest I had farmed.
Don’t say that. I never hopped layers outside of intended use-cases and I’m sure that huge majority of players did not either. It’s not everyone. It’s a hardcore minority who’s ready to sacrifice everything for in-game numbers.
I got my epicmount now with 500g to spare. There’s a lot of ways to make gold in the game, and especially players who have been playing private servers for years have the knowledge to do so.
It’s not that difficult.
Hint: Grinding mobs for grey drops in the world is one of the worst ways to make gold.
This - well, almost.
I started a project recently to level a troll hunter - skinning, leatherworking, first aid, cooking. No trading, as I was trying to simulate a speed running scenario. However I did loot, skin, and turn items into more valuable items, such as bandages from silk onwards, or profitable LW patterns.
Doing off-zone quests adds a small amount. You also find more bags, which leads to carrying more loot (really just time efficiency). If you stick to killing the highest grays, you can stockpile any amount of cash without having to spend it on new spells.
During level 40 I could afford the mount. At level 48 I was sitting on 200 gold.
Some professions are epic gold sinks, especially enchanting.
Auction house is funny, too, most trade goods selling near vendor price it’s actually easier to vendor everything and just keep going. Especially considering the listing fee. I may have lost 500g yesterday on retail due to listing stuff from my guild bank…
Of course if you find valuable items, great. But even without it’s just fine.
