I enjoy both types of anime. I can switch off when I watch DBS as Jiren and Goku punch each other.
How does Made in Abyss compare to stuff like Parasyte?

Mind you I didn’t find the first episode or chapters of goblin slayer disturbing, so I hope these elements are at least as bad if not worse
Haven’t watched Parasite, but Made in Abyss is quite disturbing. The deeper into the manga you read, the darker and more disturbing it gets.
Not gonna spoil, but it gets dark after like episode 10 or so. But the anime hasn’t reached the manga yet, so you’ll have to read it to see what happens after the fifth layer…
Goblin Slayer was pretty tame after the first episode - mostly. I was expecting it to be much worse. It’s a bit like Devilman Crybaby in that regard; I was also told that was the most graphic, horrendous anime of all time and it just… wasn’t.
Might binge it in the next few days, if I get time.
It’s my go-to suggestion, but have you watched Shin Sekai Yori? That’s a very atypical show, really trippy at times and very dark at others.
Just saw the premise of Parasite. I’d say Made in Abyss is disturbing in another way, but still quite dark and disturbing. It combines graphic and physchological horror, combined with a form of nihilism and lovecraftian elements.
And the best part is that most characters in it look cute and innocent, so a naive reader/watcher might be deceived intimate thinking it’s some mild anime.
Its not, the first episode and a few others are mostly to leave it in the back of your mind that this is daily and this is why goblins are bad.
it is shock value that exist to tell you friendship is not magic in this story
A few of the offshoot chapters also feature some rather dark moments such as a rock eater, a worm like creature with a mouth full of teeth and as you can imagine in goblin slayer a poor soul is seen being torn to pieces inside its mouth but only once.
I’ll see if I can give it a look tonight, then. I’ve needed something different to read/watch.
In other positive news, I have two job interviews on Monday.
On a different note that 3d show about the guy with the lizard head is pretty cool
I have only heard of the manga before I saw a few episodes and I am in love with all the characters.
Edit:
Dorohedoro was the name
I wouldn’t say that the Made in Abyss is purely about graphic horror, even though it has its fair share. But the journey itself and psychology of it all combined with graphic stuff is what makes the story get darker and darker, one-upping itself in each successive layer.
I’ve watched Akira, Neo Evangelion and Berserk, but I still find Made in Abyss to be the most disturbing of them, purely because of its theme alone.
Which episode are you at?
good luck buddy!!!
(p.s we need a catch up dweeb off )
Yeah, it’s a shame TG ended. The final issue is almost coming out in English and then I’ll have the entire manga collection.
Demon Slayer (the manga) is something I’ll heartily recommend to you. It’s great and honestly gives a lot of similar vibes to Tokyo Ghoul. It doesn’t help matters that Tanjiro (the MC) has the same VA as Kaneki.
Finally got my Rivendare Deathcharger. Oh yeah!
Off to Amsterdam tomorrow with a friend who I haven’t seen properly since 2008. This is gonna be great.
One of my fav games.
Lizards forever.
I got mindscythe of the legion mythic first try!
Okay, technically it was Demonblade Eviscerator, but it’s the same weapon.
Bought some nice flowers for mom and female friends. Happy 8th of March to all of you lovely ladies out there.

For a thousand times!
I figured out a few new angles to manage my days and find motivation, defying limitations and making the most of things. To most, it must seem simple and the accomplishment meaningless but these small steps that get me moving throughout the day make a world of difference.
I hosted an event…
And been told it went good!
Finished the Netherblade set.
And got one more piece of the Valorous Terrorblade set, two more to go!
