That’s new in royal? Damn, can’t imagine playing it without the ammo reset. It’s a god send in certain areas where you get spammed with enemies weak to gunfire.
Never having played the original I can’t tell what’s new and what isn’t. I’m just generally loving it. I just finished the second palace last night.
There’s a big list of all the changes and Royal is for 95% of the part a straight improvement. I say this as a big fan of the game. And you better treat Yusuke right. He’s mine.
Finally got my hands on Poker Night 2
( Like the original game, Poker Night 2 is a computer-based poker simulation between an unseen participant (the player) and four characters. The four additional characters in addition to the player are Sam from the Sam & Max franchise (voiced by David Nowlin), who is assisted by Max (voiced by David Boat), Brock Samson from The Venture Bros. (voiced by Patrick Warburton), Ash Williams from The Evil Dead franchise (voiced by Danny Webber), and Claptrap from the Borderlands series (voiced by David Eddings). GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain) from the Portal series takes a supporting role as the dealer. During the hands, these characters provide humorous chatter between each other and towards the player. Reginald Van Winslow (voiced by Roger L. Jackson) from Tales of Monkey Island reprises his role as the host. Additional brief cameos include Steve the Bandit and Mad Moxxi from Borderlands, Doug and a Save-Lot Bandit from The Walking Dead, and a waiter from Gravity Bone)
It fkin hilarious and can’t stop playing
Legit hated him when they first introduced him, way too smug and self assured. Really warmed on me as a character through the second palace though, but you can keep him.
I’m going for my hot teacher who I just found out is also a sexy maid in her spare time. The gods smile on me.
What’s good is that pretty much all of the changes feel natural. The red-haired girl who calls you senpai (Kasumi) is new and while I’ve not met her much as I’ve only just started and work gives me no free time, she’s been slotting in well so far. I also believe there’s a school counsellor or something who’s new.
The grappling hook is new too, as well as the aforementioned ammo refill - the original was indeed a nightmare without it at times.
I also didn’t like Yusuke at first but he grew on me as I guess is the intention…
I went for Kawakami as well for the laugh (as creepy as that would be in real life…) but I really just want to romance Iwai
I got boosted for free in a 5-mask vision (first time doing it, so to speak!) and got a pair of gloves that give me Gushing Wounds. Supposedly this is very rare so there’s that. I’m more happy that I got my ilevel to an even 450.
It really is astounding how easy it is to do visions in groups. I struggled hard with 4 mask stormwind solo, but with a friend we can do 5 mask while barely even needing any orbs.
Pet delight: being able to fly in Nazjatar will always be underrated for me, it still holds the “#1 worst zone in the game” in my eyes, but at least now I can cut my activity time in it to 1/3rd.
I admit I’m not as fond of this one as I was of the first one. It seems more explicitly child-oriented and borrowing its tropes from other child media, and not even the best ones, with one subplot apparently taken directly out of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Also, it feels like the nature of the predicaments faced by the protagonists has changed. In the first book, they mostly relied on their own wits and observation skills to survive. In the second, it feels to me like they constantly get into situations out of their league and are continuously saved by contrived coincidences or deus ex machinas (by far the worst offender is the scene with their attempted sacrifice to the loa, which could have been cut out of the book entirely without losing much).
Finally, some of the characters’ names raise questions. For example, the dryad Taryndrella is named very similarly to Tarindrella, a presumably completely different dryad in the night elf starting zone. Later, a goblin named Gazlowe enters the story, and there is no indication that it’s the same Gazlowe who leads Ratchet and works for the Horde. In fact, there’s good reason to believe he isn’t. These are small things, but they add up.
Still, I’ll take it over stories of faction leaders and saving the world any day. Looking forward to the third book, which has a different writer, so I expect it to be different in tone, too.
I actually like this sort of thing. Names aren’t unique (and this especially goes for the names of famous people), and it feels off that they so often (almost) are in video games. If I remember correctly, it’s some sort of unwritten literary rule never to repeat names (so as to make the story easier to follow, I presume), but I’m not personally a fan of it.
And that’s good! Would love to see more of it, though. Some younger orcs being named after the more famous chieftains of the First and Second war would be cool, for example. I’m almost surprised Thrall didn’t name one of his after Grommash, given his love for the guy.
