Agreed! When I first started playing FF14 I found the environments pretty bland compared to the fantastical & whimsical characters and creatures. Also pretty washed out in color compared to WoW.
Then discovering GShade was a blessing to give the environments a more vibrant & cinematic look, really improved my own gaming experience. Not to mention in WoW I used to apply some Photoshop enhancements to screenshots, now it’s all just quickly browsing my favorite Gshade presets or adjusting my own and hit printscreen. (Edit: Though I still need to paste them somewhere, since the screenshots stored in the game folder don’t get the custom shader effects applied to them. But it’s only a minor inconvenience)
Though people can still take pretty screenshots without Gshade by fiddling with the settings of the default Gpose mode.

It breaks my heart that I only just discovered GShade a month ago. I can only imagine the difference it would have made to have played through it from the start with it on.

They are finally working on improving it on the game’s end, according to the recent live letter.
It boggles the mind how something like gshade isn’t default already. The baseline game looks bad.

It does. I remember first booting it up last year and almost being put off by how washed out and old it looked.

i only discovered g-shade myself a few months ago and i honestly wish i did sooner. i use it on XIV and ESO and honestly the games look so unbeleivably good now and so much less bland. ESO especially looks soooo good with it

Did a small play by post between me and my DM since our last game ended with defeating a black shadow dragon in her lair no less.
Having an item that grants me the ability to sense valuable minerals I sniffed out the dragons treasure hoard, however! the oversized lizard most have had a fail safe because all her treasure was getting sucked back into the shadowfell
So DM was kind and gave me a hidden time to grab as much loot as possible.
and I tell you, I want big, taking all the risks, and the dice gods were with me for my 213 hp barbarian made it out of that trap with arms full of powerful magic items and 10 hp remaining, it was this close 
that I would have been sent to the shadow realm with a pissed off sudo demi god black shadow dragolich. (which is perhaps the edgiest thing I have ever had to say)
Can’t wait for next session to share treasure with the party.
RPing a fully extroverted character for once is a truly magical experience.
I’d never be doing this much walking up to people with my old characters. But Alain’s laid-back, friendly, confident and chill, and interested in listening to others and talking with them alike - and that turned out to be the key to a lot of RP conversations in otherwise seemingly quiet situations!

I found much enjoyment in playing characters similarly
while I understand it is comfortable to sit and wait for rp to come, it can be really rewarding to be the instigator once in a while.
Did my first RP in so long last night! Happy.
i have put almost 120 hours into Elden Ring in a week, on average playing for 14 hours a day
this game is so good i just don’t want to play anything else for a time, imagine the DLCs for this game

This might be old news but since I only had time to play it recently, I am enjoying Pokémon Legends: Arceus quite a lot! As a long fan of the franchise since Red and Blue, I hope they continue this formula and evolve from it. Which seems to be the case given the news of Pokémon Scarlet / Violet!
Also, speaking of the new generation. Oh gawd, it’s based on Iberia! What a random yet happy coincidence. Speaking as a Portuguese, of course. Though I suspect it’s going to be mainly Spain than otherwise… but oh well, close enough!

I’m quite pleased with how my FFXIV RP alt is turning out. She started as a not-terribly-original concept — “Lintian but born in Eorzea” — but has since evolved into her own thing with a character voice distinct from Lintian’s, in a way I myself didn’t expect.

This is why I prefer something stylized than something that tries to portrait reality in a fashion. I just never felt we are truly quite there yet to make it work. In the meantime, I have to admit, attempts just as these can be funny!

Been feeling poop because of what’s going on in the world but managed to finally find some chill time with FFXIV housing. An Ul’dah themed interior for my lalafell merchant’s new shop with a small alley bar / lounge above.
