Pet Peeve #INFINITY - Thanos gonna cry

TOD HOWARD! GET IN HERE!

Who is Tod Howard?

Bethesda’s sort of… PR Guy? Talks to people

As I finally came to my senses, I found myself bound on some wooden cart being lead by horses down a snowy mountain road.

“Hey, you. You’re finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, same as us. Walked right into that Imperial ambush.” I heard a familiar voice say.

As I looked around, I saw a text unfold before me.

“The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”

I’m honestly surprised it took this long for it to be picked up on. Consider it my Christmas present to you.

Talks at people. Todd Howard would be an -excellent- Blizzard dev.

I was at work and hadn’t noticed it, so my fury was not mustered.

Aaaand, can’t get the new mod program to behave.

Surnames that are a combination of words, that don’t make any sense together.

Some Orc named Wildspine? What, how is your spine wild, you realize these are titles, right? Where would you get that kind of a title?

Maybe he beat someone up with a spine like a wild animal.

Were it not for the laws of this land, I would have slaughtered you with your own spine

Mages can’t use Argus scythes. Why.

I think another, possibly more important reason why a number of D&D campaigns go low-magic is for practical reasons. Standard D&D has quite a bit of magic and the player characters will not just get more powerful as they progress but more importantly their toolkit will expand with lots of possibilities to solve encounters.

A DM has to take into account all of those when designing the encounter. Big scary monster? The fighter of the party has enchanted armor and is able to keep it occupied; that is, if the party wizard doesn’t cast Disintegrate on it; or the party cleric pokes it with Harm to reduce it to a handful of HP.

It’s a balance that must be struck between safeguarding against what players can do so the encounter doesn’t end during the first turn while also not restricting the players constantly so they won’t feel like they have no part to play. Like e.g.:

Wizard: “Oh the Black Sanctum? I’ve been there before. I can teleport us all there.”
DM: “Actually you can’t. It’s warded against teleportations.”
Wizard: “Again? That’s the fifth one. Why do I even bother memorizing this spell?”

Same goes for WoW. There is so much stuff to take into account that it’s just easier to remove the majority of it. And this translates to gimping magic because that can solve about any tense situation by waving your hands and uttering an incantation.

I think it’s mostly because people like the characters and storyline of Game of Thrones.

Genuinely do not get this still.

For the same reason DKs can’t use the frostscythe of lord ahune.

It is polearm

I tried to greet the Night Elves of Feathermoon with love and peace and they rejected me! This is why we are at war people. The Alliance won’t accept peace!

Did you know that surnames in a fantasy land are hard to come up with, at least ones that make sense?

Besides, as far as I know, Orcs don’t atrictly have last names. Thes tend to have last names that are either titles or have something to do with their attributes, vocation or personality.

Somewhat, not too hard, First names are harder.

Yeah, that’s… exactly what I said…

I may have missed that part. My apologies.

“Body shape: pear”

It’s like all the WoW girls suddenly went bottom heavy for some reason but at least it nearly killed THICC as a description. It’s a stupid, simple and petty thing but this is the peeve thread, people…
