Pet Peeve #INFINITY - Thanos gonna cry

Oh yeah, of course. It’s not like you could’ve been honored by a Laughing Skull and given your own mask, or decided to murder one of them and took the mask for yourself.

Lore is permissive. If there’s nothing saying you can do a thing, claiming you can do said thing is canonically wrong.

Prove it in ten letters or more.

I’m ruining no one’s RP and my ideas aren’t my own. They are Blizzards. I am repeating the lore they have given us.

Lor’themar Theron yells: It is my honor to present you with the regalia of our greatest heroes. Belono sil’aru, belore’dorei. Rise, champion of the sin’dorei!

Requirements for doing the Heritage armor questline:

Revered.
High enough level.

There, bagged and tagged.

There’s 0 mention of you having to be the hero you claim the guy has to be. You could be any of the multiple heroes in Azeroth. Unless, of course, Lor’themar “Lonecreek” Theron, in the questline adresses the guy who gets the armor set as:

“Slayer of (insert all the raid bosses here), commander of our Frostfire Garrison, Wielder of artifact”

Which I assume he doesn’t. He just calls you out as a hero/champion, which are abundant in the setting.

If this is the hill you want to die on, okay.

I never claimed otherwise. Headcanon is needed in order to RP in the first place. There’s no IC mention of your guy being in the lore, after all.

Yes, but why are they available to you? After all, like your pragmatic argument states, if others can have it =/= You can have it.

Back to the drawing board…

Do you know what a replica is? And that’s not what I asked you to prove, I asked you to prove that if something isn’t directly stated it’s not possible.

HMM weird, it doesn’t say a word about you having to be:

  • The guy who killed x bosses
  • The guy who owns a garrison in Frostfire
  • The guy who wielded x artifact

It actually only mentions:

champion of the sin’dorei

…Which you can apparently become just by being strong enough (high enough level), and exalted.

Except that’s who you are when you play the game? That’s who he addresses? That’s who he calls for? The player character. Not your average Joe.

Dozens of NPCs use it, therefore it is available in the world. How, I don’t know. Nor do I claim to. Nor do I explain it IC. Because no explaination has been given - all we know is that it’s available.

Again. You aren’t “generic blood elf.” You, the playercharacter, who is doing all the things, is the individual doing the things.

According to the lore I am a high-ranking-member of the Uncrowned, have used the Kingslayers to fight and defeat the Burning Legion and Argus and right now I serve as a Champion of Azeroth.

Which is true. The playercharacter is all that. Your RP character may not be the playercharacter.

But that would be lorebreaking

Ahem.

Champion

Verb
ˈtʃæm.pi.ən

to support, defend, or fight for a person, belief, right, or principle enthusiastically

No, he doesn’t talk about the player character.

He talks about a “Champion of Silvermoon”. That could be anyone. There’s no mention of them having to be this guy who has done x things.

Yeah, it’s available for these NPC’s. But is it available for your character? You can’t know that for sure with your line of argument, now can you?

Ah! Now. Our RP characters aren’t canon, of course, because they aren’t made by Blizz or people with the license to create canon-works. Does that then mean that it’s ok for our RP characters to go against the rules and lore Blizz has set for us to play by in the sandbox of RP?

What so, for the period you do the questline, you’re suddenly playing as someone else???

But we’re already going against said rules simply by RPing anyone but the heroes who saved azeroth countless of times

See? I can play this game too…

That’s pretty much quote on quote what roleplay is, amigo.

Playing the game isn’t roleplay. Roleplay is roleplay. That questline was done, canonically, by the player character. The same player character you have been the entire time. Because that is who we all play as.
