Pet Peeve #INFINITY - Thanos gonna cry

To add onto this why does SWTOR (A game that’s rapidly dropping in it’s cash and players) have more advanced customization and more advanced story opportunities + a character voice whilst WoW has none of this?

I actually phase when talking to the troll.

The game is not aging well at all. Especially in an age where MMOs are more ambitious regarding giving player control and liberty. WoW is right now missing the few core features that ensures an MMO’S popularity and growth.

Housing, for me it’s insanity that a game as rich as WoW still doesn’t have housing, Garrison was a utility feature not housing. I don’t believe that WoW’s outstanding art department can’t do anything about it, I think it’s mostly a because devs just don’t wanna implement tha or it would be a pain regarding phasing in and out but then again we got that farm in Halfhill and the phasing ain’t that terrible.

As Dari and I spoke earlier, character agency. The ability to choose the story we want to play in… I’d like to believe that most RPers here are veterans of the game by now and we’ve seen the game evolve but certainly never giving us control and make our character feel alive. Different voices, heights, more options for customization.

BfA is the expansion that made us realize how much lakcluster in terms of quality it is. WoD was an empty expansion so we couldn’t fairly say what was wrong because the wrong thing was the lack of content… BfA is the pure definition of a “Plate full of sh!t but sprinkled with condiments”… It’s still sh!t upon your tongue.

Because SWTOR was made to be an RPG while questing more than just an obligatory hurdle you have to do before you get to the “real” game.

They even made it possible a while back to get from 1-50 doing JUST the class stories, even as a f2p player. All the side quests with ‘meh’ or even downright bad writing can be ignored.

It’s not the best Bioware RPG or the best MMO, but the class stories are by far worth playing alone. Some of thema re a bit on the weaker side but it’s more of a taste thing really. (A lot of people think Jedi Counsular is ‘boring’ but tbh it’s just different, if you want to be a bombastic war hero, play Jedi Knight, which is basically KotoR 3). I do also like how Light/Dark isn’t necessarily good/evil, it’s lawful/chaotic more than anything, which works well even on Empire side.

After 50 it got a bit… less strong, with all 8 classes doing the same quests for an expansion or two. But after a point they ditched the voice acted PC but gave you multiple lines of dialogue to pick from, KOTOR style, which helped a lot. This was the case for two expansions I believe, but it seems for the next one coming later this year they’re going back to voiced PCs.

Oh and the classes play like WoW: MoP era classes, which is a huge benefit tbh. Weird, it being a shameless WoW clone for gameplay is now working in it’s favour.

Because it was designed with all that as a focus from the ground up. That was their whole sales pitch and shtick.

I dropped SWTOR after a while because I am so invested in wow and all my friends are here… but honestly I enjoyed sith juggernaut warrior way more than I enjoy blood DK for example. Some tasty fresh animations. And I LOVED the body shape options. It’s such a small thing but makes such a difference.

My sith warrior used the stocky build (not the big and beefy one) and I actually really liked how it looked.

Also coats. Plentiful coats from low level onward. Thank you Bioware.

Many of the Sith Warrior’s dark side options made me laugh. Like straight up threatening to eat someone alive. Which in turn terrifies everybody and skips a combat encounter with mobs.

It’s also super interesting to view the same universe from such drastically different perspectives. If you’re a Sith Warrior, everyone :poop:'s bricks at the sight of you, if you’re an Imperial Agent, the story emphasises that you can’t fight a Sith head on and you have to plan and work around that, oh and it sets in quite early on that disrespecting a Sith will just get you killed, it’s rather chilling at times. (The power disparity is also why, imo, Empire side RP died out. We all know how many people who RP love playing with power and lording it over other people… now imagine an entire faction where there’s literally an upper and lower class system in lore).

On a second topic.

People who obsess too much over reviews and don’t understand subjectivity. ‘No, Chieun, don’t go see Aquaman! It’s not good and the reviews criticise it!’

I do what I want. >=( I went to see it alone earlier tonight.

Spoilers for Aquaman

The plot was familiar, sure, but I really enjoyed how it was retold. There was still a surprise or two in there, for example I totally expected them to kill off the queen or the friendly old advisor guy in the end - but they didn’t! Nothing wrong with a happy ending in this day and age.

It was a visual spectacle, the actors were good (but then, Jason Momoa :heart:_:heart:)

Sure the ending was bombastic to say the least but… People had the same complaint about Crysis. I liked Crysis. It was fine. The ending battle also was kinda Avatar (the space movie) like but I was fine with that too.

The best character was the sea monster. Real Pacific Rim vibes! Love the way the appearance was teased until the finale.

Also black manta lol, just as goofy as he was in injustice…

It was not flawless but I walked out of the cinema smiling. That makes it good in my books.

I played a light side sith like the rebel I am.

That’s pretty much what everyone told me about the Movie Venom. In the end I enjoyed the movie nonetheless really. Asking for seconds even.

It doesn’t have to be a good movie to be fun to watch. Sometimes I want to just see mindless violence, with a superpowered protagonist punching holes first, asking questions later.

People forget that sometimes I think.

Isn’t that what the movies “Expendables” were? I mean it wasn’t brilliant regarding plot but you just watched it for the pure testorone that was leaking out of it.

Why am I not surprised… Darth Nox glare of doom

Tbh the light side actions usually struck me as the more reasonable ones… it was pretty fun to surprise everyone I encountered by not killing everything in my path.

You aren’t necessarily wrong about that. The directors mentioned they were going for ‘underwater star wars’ and I can see what they meant.

Same here, I found the LS playthrough to be remarkably rewarding.

Light side Sith and Dark side Jedi are the patrician’s choices.

Honestly I might jut make a second Sith Warrior just to do light side. It’s one of the class stories that are honestly great no matter which side you play.

I finished Jedi Knight as light side and… urgh. Dull as bricks, not even being voiced by Solid Snake could save that.

I got a boost to the start of the Eternal Throne stuff, and played through as a Jedi Knight, who slowly became more corrupted as I played through the story. He began by using Valkorion’s power because he needed it to protect his allies, but by the end he took control of the fleet for himself.

I had a lot of fun with that.

The only ‘Uuuuh’ thing is that, allegedly, in the new patch stuff, you get to pick Republic or Empire… admittedly this is because you’re part of a neutral power after the events of the recent expansions but… as a Sith Warrior, going Republic would be downright hilarious.

Bad MMO, good single-player RPG tbh. Arguably the opposite of WoW in that, I guess.
