There being reasons and you not liking them is not the same as ‘there is no reason’, though.
The two arguments I have heard are ‘change is bad’ and in-universe explanations which I explained as simply as I could are not justifications but excuses.
Ah, the internet ‘why u so mad’ argument. Never fails to disappoint.
My memory of the one novel I read is sketchy (Space Wolf) but it didn’t seem like a prominent theme there. Quite the opposite? Maybe I need to reread it.
They’re licensed products just as much as the books or tabletop are.
I did out of a sense of duty. The basic story there is that an Inquisitor positions a ton of floating fortresses over a planet and refuses to let the Blood Ravens drop to help a Knight world because he wants what he thinks is an Eldar relic and has pre-emptively set up a blockade when the world it’s on emerges from the Warp.
Not sure which book you read. But in one of the books involving the Space Wolves, they go to war with the Inquisition (Who are both in the Imperium) because the Inquisition nuked the F out of a planet that fought against Chaos. Basically killing off billions of people just because they “saw too much”.
It varies by writer of course. Some people just go ham on the “Space Marines are cooooooool” deal. And others do a bit of focusing on how crap the Imperium really is.
I just finished the Crusades End omnibus, and its been one of the stronger books Ive read. You actually get juxtaposition between the superhuman Marines and the normal humans.
Current pet peeve is the wait for the next Draenor timewalking week. I still haven’t trudged through the Tanaan reputation grinds and I have timewalking tokens to spare by the hundreds.
In all seriousness, I think its a shame the Internet couldn’t be trusted with an anime styled 40k animation. The level of detail and cool effects would, I think, make for a really cool combination. Also make more people realise that a lot of the stereotypes about it are just that. 2D animation can do so much
Sisters of Battle are bad. Boobplate is bad. And yes, Blood Angels, your pecs-plate is bad too.
Not that I particularly crave female space marines. I have gone long beyond bothering with that by now. With how heavily altered they are, for all we know some may have started out as girls already.
What is suspect is the total lack of women within the Imperial Guard range. For what is supposed to be the most diverse faction in the setting, it is very… non-diverse.
Good thing that third parties solve that problem. Incidentally, they solve the SoB problem too. For example, I saw someone make SoB out of Dreamforge bodies and heads from I-Don’t-Remember.
Apparently not, given that every piece of art of Sisters I’ve seen has had them in weirdly form-fitting boobplate, with symbols on each boob just in case you missed them.
Boobplate is for aesthetic reasons, never practical ones. If you got hit in the torso wearing boobplate your chest would get caved in.
Anyone who actually goes into a fight would never choose to have armour that would kill them for aesthetics so it’s a creator’s choice.

To add to that, yeah, the Imperium is stylised and impractical about things. Doesn’t stop Cadians and Space Marines from wearing armour that somewhat resembles actual armour.
