Who writes the character amigo?
I love how the whole third wave femenism/neo cons/right vs left wing has truly come full circle
Personally I blame Milo
Could people at least keep it out of RP though? Itâs a real cringefest to be around.
Are you implying that if a roleplayer employs sexism (or for example racism) in their RP, they must be like that IRL?
Iâm implying that if a roleplayer thinks itâs okay to constantly /yell about (insert term for a lady of the night) in a game for ages 12 and over, they donât exactly have high standards. And mind you, those who do it IC just as often do it OOC.
lmao we get this on tumblr at times (surprise surprise) that if you RP X you must support it / enjoy it / be like that IRL.
Itâs fiction.
Not sure why several were yelling wh*re then.
Yeah weâve figured out what kind of person you are itâs okay
Eventually youâll turn 16
As a rule of thumb, I recognise that humans are complex beings and that not everything is worth getting up in arms over.
Most of the alleged âgendered termsâ arenât even exclusive to a particular gender.
Yeah, this is exactly what I was talking about. Itâs shocking.
Itâs reassuring to know itâs not just me being super sensitive, and is actually something other people have picked up on.
I hope this discussion wonât cost us the Pet Peeve thread. If we lose it, Iâm going to miss it.
Yeah, Iâm sure their moral good rebel character is just a sexist, and it has nothing to do with them using inappropriate and immature language as a player.
Oh, waitâŚ
Itâs endured worse.
Didnât we lose of the peeve threads when Tubri (or whatever his name was) started a politics discussion?
Thereâs a difference between RPing something you donât personally believe and using slurs against fictional characters.
This is the same vein as people saying that they donât need to respect the pronouns of trans people if they do something bad - it normalises the language for real people too. Obviously Sylvanas canât see people calling her a b***h but real women can and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
It reminds them of when people call them things like that IRL (and despite your hot takes, it is a slur directed primarily at women), too.
I donât believe such issues are an appropriate topic of discussion for this forum in the first place.
but you donât see an issue w/ them in-game??
Iâm trying to gently introduce some entry-level feminism here as clearly the women in your life have not made you aware of this.
If you canât talk about them here, where can you?
Boi, youâre trying to tell me âwhat person I amâ without even knowing me.
Though this reply made me kind of laugh. I get called a N word IRL and a guy in the WoW forums want to tell me âhow bad it is that a fictional character gets called something meanâ. Like bruh. Nice try.
I also hope youâre a woman IRL because otherwise this might get awkward.
