Pet Peeve: The Undying

Deathwing has 2 themes for his actual fights, and one general theme.

He does, it’s a quiet, creeping song, like the quiet creeping cold that will end your characters life if you don’t defeat him.

That loop is too short. It’s maddening!
I live for Lost City Of Amdapor HM. Piano!

Where? It doesn’t play during ICC encounter.

The only issue with Shadowbringer zone music is they have at least two variants for each zone but they’re much smaller than other zone pieces i’ve found.

la ᴴᴱᴱ… It’s both enjoyable and rage inducing.

I found it annoying at first, then it grew on me. It does a great job at showing the mystery of the Greatwood, the Ronka empire ruins and that lost-city-mesoamerican feel.

It does. It often breaks into quietness to allow the NPCs to speak, but it is there and you can definitely hear it

I was thinking “Hey, the Boss Fights in Antorus had some good music, I remember…”

… then I recalled that actually, used to put on the DOOM (2016) soundtrack while doing Antorus fights. BFG Division for Aggramar worked out great.

Honestly, WoW Raids are loud as hell with 25 people’s spells and abilities firing off, plus whatever the raid boss is doing/yelling, and in 99% of cases the loudest sounds are Deadly Boss Mods screaming at you… can’t really blame people for not noticing the music, and all that before you account for voice chat in any raid above Normal.

Like I said, its ambient music and its a set of strung together jingles that play when he does certain attacks like remorseless winter (i recall that much at least).

Where’s Sindri? Haven’t seen him post for a bit. Has he been taken?

Prooves you wrong

Lukas, you can’t change the game when you’re already in the middle of it, you stated he has No Music, I have proved you wrong, you can’t then go “But that doesn’t count.”

I don’t get the rak’tika greatwood soundtrack any more since cleansing it of its warden, I was saddened by this.

But I can, and I am.

Uno.

My point remains the same, WoW - while good at making earwormy jingles and short hooks, which are fine for zone music - lack substantially for when it comes to important encounters, be it for bosses, dungeons or story purposes. Dancing over a non-existent “gotcha” isn’t changing anything.

Yeah, its a shame a lot of the Post-Lightwarden musics are more subdued. But hey at least the zone music -changes- in FF14, I think I’ve seen a similar thing in WoW perhaps… in one or two zones? Off the top of my head Dun Morogh and Storm Peaks (still best zone in game) have a different ambient music for day and night.

The problem is these ambient tracks get utterly drowned out by the sound of twenty five murder hobos ripping the boss limb from limb over the promise of a few shinies.

The Deathwing music I honestly struggle to remember, I only recall it being the same Twilight Cult choir that you heard all the time while questing but I admit I may be misremembering. There has to be a reason why I find almost no WoW boss music to be memorable though. I think it’s just a fact that they prefer ambient tunes rather than anything too epic during fights. This just leads to my brain’s MP3 player getting a “file not found” error when trying to remember them, yet I can recall the random trial and dungeon bosses in XIV on the spot starting from ARR.

Not to mention “lol u play with music on? how can u hear in vent lolololol.”

Oh no you can’t, your Literal words is “He has no music”, I have proven he does. You can’t try and worm out saying that it doesn’t prove you wrong when your exact words are

Again, which one, there are three, his general theme and the two fight themes.

This reminds me i need to get my bunny girl through Stormblood so I can play Shadowbringers again and enjoy all the music again (except Titania, screw him and his music)

I have my own alt i’m leveling as well, much easier being a healer of course. Heavensward is pretty much infinitely repeatable in enjoyment but yeah Stormblood… eeeh. I’ll be skipping past the scenes with Lyse in them.

I have questions. I thought Titania was a her?

Him? HIM?! Do pixies actually have proper genders…? They all seem very lady like, and are all named King regardless.

In classic Shakespearean she is.

Well yeah, that’s what the character’s name is based off. The whole zone is very Midsummers Night Dream.

But then again I guess pixies don’t need to obey standard conventions
