She grew weary of how Chewbacca was never around to connect with the kids when he was out âsaving the galaxyâ and ârestoring democracyâ so she took them and went back to Kashyyyk.
Theyâre his children too oh god oh crap heâll make time to connect with them for real this time
I found Force Awakens to be alright. Last Jedi just felt pointless and flashy for the sake of it. Iâm still heavily peeved by the entire casino arc serving litterally -no- purpose, and that was apparantly the meaning of it because âthatâs how you build cool moviesâ or something. Subverting the Audienceâs expectations for a twist can be good. Doing it the entire film every chance you get, with no payoff, is not.
I liked TLJ, much to the consternation of 90% of the internet. It wasnât perfect (none of the films are) but I still liked it overall in spite of its flaws.
And thatâs fine , I will admit, despite being peeved by stuff and finding it meh overall, there was stuff in it I liked, and it was still a movie that could entertain me. Itâs also alot easier to analyze it over the internet afterwards and point out the flaws.
See how easily it is to discuss stuff and not fight(Not aimed at you Elenthas)
Given the amount of KOTOR 2 references in TLJ to the point of more or less canonizing Revan with that one necklace prop which according to the official visual guide belonged to one of Revanâs Crusaders, I can see where Rhian Johnson was coming from.
But to deconstruct a setting traditionally known for its black and white themes to make something morally grey instead takes time, and one movie is not enough. I feel like it had potential, but half way through Rhian Johnson realized he didnât have the time to execute it properly but after having already committed to it, he opted for a D&D and subverted your expectations out of the blue to salvage it and hope for the best.
It wasnât a great movie, it had some glaring issues. But over all I came out of it enjoying myself. Then again I generally am very optimistic and look for silver linings and find it really easy to just enjoy things. Iâm not fussed about BFA, and I wasnât fussed about TLJ either. I like mediocre early 2000s Family Comedies unironically as a guilty pleasure.
I could probably sit down and watch TLJ without much complaint, but Iâm not interested in the new movies because Iâm the kind of weirdo who got really into the EU.
Walking out of Force Awakens, my brother and GF were very positive and I felt like the outsider because I absolutely loathed it. Itâs been vindicating to see how harshly opinion turned against TFA since.
I didnât even see TLJ, after Rogue One reached the heights of âokay in parts but mostly mediocreâ I just gave up.
Most reviews of TLJ Iâve seen have not inspired confidence. Iâm not interested in the spectacle, and besides, the Marvel films manage to have spectacle AND decent stories, so enduring a terrible story for the spectacle, why?
