See, I saw alot of people disagree with the movie. But I found it quite nice and enjoyable. More so than Last Jedi personally. Kylo Ren was terrifying(more so before the unmasking, but still good), Rey was a nice character, Poe and Finn were all great, bb-8 is the best thing.
And the story moved forward nicely, it felt like a nice homeage/nod to A New Hope, while still being its own thing.
I’m rooting for Force Ghost All-Stars.

When is the new Clone Wars season coming out? I keep forgetting to keep track of it…
I have a crazy theory that would kinda salvage all the stuff I hate about Rey as a character: She’s a clone of Palpatine. Something went wrong and she got genderflipped, dumped on a planet to hide her from the Republic (maybe she was even born/cloned on board the Imperial fleet that was destroyed there?!) and her incredible Force powers coming out of nowhere is because she’s Darth Sidious reborn, and the struggle will be against his influence?
I mean, I doubt it, but that would be pretty awesome in a ridiculous over-the-top sort of way which seems to be the way we’re supposed to like the Disney Star Wars films, so I can dig it.
I like Kylo Ren as sort of a joke villain… He seems intimidating, but he’s actually hilariously incompetent and throws little tantrums. Of course, that kind of power combined with childish tantrums makes him incredibly dangerous, and thus still viable as an actual villain.
I love Poe and Finn and they should honestly just get paired up. Gimme some of that yummy biracial boy-love.
Rey I didn’t like, I felt like she was a terrible Mary Sue for one specific reason: She does make mistakes… but those mistakes always end up in her favour anyway, and nobody ever calls her out on it.

Not sure, I’m not really into Star Wars anymore. Though, I did find my Darth Bane books not too long ago.
My general theory is that she is Skywalker related, and Kylo Ren/Snoke’s rantings in the last Jedi was just lies to throw her off. It fits in with both narrative and their respective characters.
He is essentially an angry little brat, but with alot of powers that have no guidance, as well as anger issues. It’s a deadly combination.
I ship them alot more than Rose x Finn.
I’ve seen alot of Mary Sue comments at Rey, and while there are some things that felt a bit rushed with her, I disagree with it. I think she is quite nice in terms of character and progressing forward.

Yeah, I think the problem comes with that when you take neo-natsies and give them power and guns and cool uniforms… they kinda lose the patheticness that makes them lack legitimacy, and just makes them regular natsies.
It’s like depicting WW2 with Hitler being a bumbling, comedic figure… at the same time we’re showing the holocaust. It’s very jarring. I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking it but I personally really couldn’t enjoy it.

I wanted to like the new Star Wars films, but I couldn’t get into them.
I walked out of TFA and never took much interest after that. Kathleen Kennedy sucked the excitement out of Star Wars, for me.
I do look forward to the new LOTR television series. I just hope the rumors of them making Mithrandir a female, don’t come to pass.
Pivoting back to the whole “muh KOTOR 2” thing… Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight is the best standalone Star Wars story, at least in a video game.
Much as I exaggerate my dislike for KOTOR 2, Dark Forces 2 is my Star Wars nostalgia high point.

I think Rey’s a Palpatine.
In the new canon Jakku was the final battlefront of the Galactic Civil War. Palpatine had already died. but the Imperial forces there were working on a private project for Palpatine as a contingency, and they went on a huge scorched earth campaign to make sure that no matter what happens, the New Republic will not find out the truth.
After the final base was destroyed by the Imperials, they launched their deep space expedition which eventually lead to the discovery of Snoke who went on to radicalize the Imperial Remnants who got Treaty of Versaille’d by the New Republic. The New Republic neglected the Imperial worlds they had practically leveled in their civil war, leading to many of them becoming planet-wide ghettos and all they wanted was basic support to rebuild their war torn worlds – The Republic said no.
Now, Rey was born around the same time as the final battle at Jakku. And her theme is remixed from Palpatine’s theme from Revenge of the Sith.
Also in the novelization of Force Awakens of this scene in particular when Rey focuses and it hard cuts to the Dark Side theme, she hears a distant dark voice whisper in her ear: “Do it.”
