Pet peeves: The return (Part 1)

People are not rational decision makers. Most (read: all) people decide with feelings over facts in most things.

A new danelaw might be the best of both worlds since denmark is aggressively exempt from a lot of EU directives. Who knew a modern viking invasion would be the rational centrist solution to brexit?

Yo, did anyone here watch that new movie Snyder Cut and what did you think of it?

Oh no, bots use VPNs to poorer countries to get a cheaper sub!

What do we do? Do we crack down on bots? Do we get GMs to check suspicious groups? Do we restrict multiboxing?

Nah let’s just make those unwashed plebeians pay a 500% larger sub! Perfect.

I thought it was excellent

The best version of the movie that could have been given the setup

I wish Aquaman had any lines. Batman also didn’t feel like any Batman the public had come to expect (comparison to the Nolan trilogy, Arkham trilogy, and cartoon); he was just an angry man with guns and a turret, which didn’t really strike me as anything relating to stealth, psychological manipulation, or detective work - he somehow felt like the “brute” of the party.

I’m not a DC fan so I only really know Batman from, like I listed, the movies and video games, so maybe him having guns and being angry is accurate to the comics, but it definitely felt off to me. I’m glad Ray Fisher was added back to the movie, though - happy the cut exists if only to spite Joss Wheadon.

There, fixed that for you.

i think a fairer comparison for the two movies would be for them to have the same run time. it’s easy to say that a movie given double the amount of time to set up it’s plot and characters is better

there’s definitely an arguement to be made for snyder’s original vision for the movie being better realised in terms of the style and cutting out of unncessary MCU humour though

give me a snyder cut that’s at the same runtime and then maybe i’ll be more inclined to pit them against each other

Well, consider the theatrical cut scenes missing from the Snyder Cut (= the scenes Joss added, easy to tell because it’s all the scenes where Cavil looks like a mutant). Did they really add anything to the movie (eg Martha calling Louis thirsty, Flash talking about brunch, Batman saying “yeah something definitely bleeds”, the Flash+Diana chest scene and many more jokes).

Then consider what was cut (=Flash’s and Cyborg’s entire character arcs).

I mean it’s fair that the movie had to be trimmed, but Whedon excessively trimming it to add in a bunch of mediocre content is just really damn strange.

London is fine. It’s the rest of the south east that sucks.

London has the Finance Mob, the Politicians and that entire circus. ‘Fine’ is not a word I would use, ever :joy:

Edit: I appreciate the day to day Londoners didn’t really have a say in that either. Which is why I dislike the whole ‘English’ argument; it’s literally the 1% and the Political Elite.

Man I can’t even say myself that Paris is fine. I doubt any Metropolis is some place you’d call fine lately.

The mistake of DC is trying to be the MCU.

They should have done their own thing at their own pace rather them a vain attempt at riding Marvel’s coat tail.
