Pet peeves: The return (Part 1)

Anyone got any hot Rimworld mod suggestions? My hunger to devour the Steam workshop is growing

Time to kill the final boss of 5.0 (Again).

Waiting in the queue but at least I get to listen to the Shadowbringers Theme in game.

Man. I really wish I had the attention span and patience to get good at fighting games. Dragon Ball FighterZ looks so god damn fun it isn’t even real.

Also look at how effing ridiculously good it looks.

My Biggest Pet Peeve: playing a Gnome and people just outright ignore your presence. Walking through you when you’re both IC, not responding to anything you say, etc. Though the sort that do that are usually the blandest of Human Nobles or rough and tough mercenary types and ultimately not worth RPing with. I have no idea what causes that mentality, though.

Onedrive is the worst invention and I never want it to touch my PC ever again. I mean I uninstalled it but now it won’t let me move folders n stuff and I’m about ready to take my pc to the pc shop and just have it reformatted im going FERAL.

Not often, but I have in the past had similar issues, including one encounter when the person outright whispered me that his guild didn’t “acknowledge gnomes to exist in the setting”.

Just disregard people like that.

sounds like a bunch of bad Rpers.

A lot is, actually but warcraft is filtered through its creators’ copyright proof sensibilities, love of norse mythology and other details to make it less recognisably warhammer even if it retains a lot of traits like the general design of orcs, dwarves with steampunk gyrocopters, world tree guarding wood elves and a hell dimension from which we draw our magic.

It’s at a point where they can comfortably elaborate and write lore of similar themes and aesthetics without getting sued and the intellectual properties are divorced enough to be eyebrow raisingly similar without trouble.

Absolute cancer on any device.

Such was my gnome experience too. Either ignored or mocked and when accepted, always a lesser creature.

Its more that I’d heard that exact story (of Blizzard working on a Warhammer story, but Warhammer pulled out, so Blizz re-purposed it) except it was what is now War of the Ancients.

Well yeah, zerg are tyranids, terrans are
terrans and protoss are eldar and so are the draenei in a few rather explicit ways.

Magnificent, reminds me of the ESO lot that were like “we play this as a low fantasy setting, we don’t interact with non humans etc” like c’mon

just do your game of thrones larp in discord man :frowning:

What is TES without its mer-folk?

Peeve: lack of modern up to date lore regarding so many races, their politics and culture. Draenei are just over since Legion, forsaken are uprooted entirely from their land and defining Cult of the Queen, what are even pandaren anymore and so on.

I wish blizzard hired some lore person on their team to write a thing every month of random stuff happening in Azeroth. There’d be parts of it where they catch up with one or more races about whats happening with them or just simply writing tidbits of their culture.

I wouldn’t say ‘entirely’. From what we can see they own pretty much everything they did before, with the exception that Brill and the capital are blighted beyond use. Andorhal, Deathknell, their holdings in Silverpine and Hillsbrad are all intact last we checked.

I am personally peeved by the lack of understanding of what low fantasy actually means.

Low fantasy means it’s set in our world, but with magical/fantasy elements in it - Harry Potter is low fantasy, same as Lovecraft no matter how eldritch his writings can get. It’s all ultimately set on our Earth (or equivalent thereof, like His Dark Materials).

High Fantasy is always set in a fictional world with its own rules to accompany it. High/Low fantasy does not refer to the amount of magic and fantastical elements in it, but the nature of the world the story is set in. Certain aspects of Elder Scrolls and Game of Thrones, no matter how mundane and “Medieval” in portrayal are literally by definition incapable of qualifying as low fantasy.

To play something as a low fantasy setting literally means your story is taking place on our Earth.

My pet peeve for the day: Shamans are lacking an earth based spec. Could be a tank spec, could be the
 god forbid it
2h shaman. I mean druids has 4 specs, why can’t shaman?

Yeah, they just lost 1 city and it isn’t even being held by an enemy force that makes the region dangerous or hostile. They’re still firmly settled.

And literally I passed out, and awoke when sun was down.

Me:

they ‘lost’ Fenris Keep and Southshore, to name two off the top of my head. I forget whether Shadowfang was also overtaken but it is very relevant to note that Forsaken forces in Silverpine have nowhere to retreat to if the Alliance pushes north
