The Torghast wing that drops my wanted legendary isn’t up for the nth week in a row, but apparently you can get them from twisting corridors.
I’ve only unlocked Layer 1 there so I figure I could blast through the first couple layers easily.
I get to floor 16 (sixteen) and everything suddenly starts one-shotting me.

Yes, you can - Twisting is basically 3 random floors of regular Torghast, taken from all of them, stapled together. If the floor that drops your leggo is in that stapling, you can get it from the last boss (6/12/18)
Yeah I got that much, but I’m assuming I also need to be on the appropriate layer (3 in this case) which is a bit of a pain when you can spend over an hour in there and then die out of nowhere.
Are you doing it as a shaman?
Best recommendation I can give is to get 2 stacks of Deadened Earth (-40% cooldown to Earth Elemental) ASAP. It makes it permanent and consequently extremely hard for you to die.
Yeah I’m doing it as enhancement shaman. I had 2 stacks of deadened earth + earthquake on elemental, which was really good up until the point where the elemental is one-shot by anything.
Huh - I was getting pretty high without that happening, but I was doing it as Elemental which has Primal Elementals. Sadly can’t give any specific help for maceboys : (
I will simply try harder next time.
I am at least 60% sure that you can do corridors in a group, worst case scenario - even a second person to help out can make all the difference!
Yeah I was thinking of seeing if I could wrangle some friends together to do a few runs later tonight. If not, I could just wait, not like I have a use for the Legendary.

i thought the 1250 soul ash required by the quest you get from the Primus is all the ash you need to forge a legendary

If you’re looking to get some really ridiculous pawns, expanded prosthetics is pretty good. Get them cyberpunk commandos on the go.
