It sure did sink my dark ranger plans.
Someone has to be the one to kick off the revolution.

Deference to money/power, media compliance and curated scrubbing of internal criticism as the entrenched oligarchy expands its reach. Opposition silenced, dissent criminalised, imperial power projected outward to manifacture crisis justifying perpetual goalpost moving and expanding emergency powers. Repression tactics honed on the frontier are brought home, surveillance justified to keep Law and Orderâ˘.
Ultimately an efficient dismantling of institutions follows until state and corporate power formally become one and direct ownership of society rests with a chosen handful appointed on basis of loyalty. Successors in turn are appointed, wealthier than ever and able to leverage this into greater personal power. Popularity is maintained by controlled education and lack thereof, an opposition paid to lose and political nihilism of learned helplessness in the face of a future that isnât.
Should actual friction arise, crisises are manifactured to rally the masses to nation, flag and leader. Determined opposition becomes yet another target on the list of internal foes, forever a lethal threat or too weak to meaningfully threaten the system, as convenient. Crisis and victory dance unevenly in circles.
What do the rest of us do? We choose whether to bow and emulate or oppose. Both have severe consequences.
Happy monday, everyone.
It was bad enough that I was oversleeping AND still feeling tired in my dreams as well as reality already, thanks.
I hate Mondays, I hate this Monday in particular cos of crummy work training, and Im feeling exhausted already -_-
I got exhausted by just thinking about thisâŚ
I love my job. However if we could remove parental involvement and this era of âparental rightsâ when it comes to schools thatâd be grand.
An unqualified parent with a sample size of at best 4 is not qualified or in an appropriate place to tell me or my colleagues how to run a classroom of 30 - which does have a whole science to it.
I swear schools are the only place an unqualified twit can walk in and demand things or âhave a sayâ because apparently children are property or something.
If somebody walked into a lab and demanded they replace all the flasks with rubber duckyâs theyâd be laughed out the building.
Depends if theyâre Upper Management or a âStakeholderâ or notâŚ
-sigh- ._.
People like to angrily and aggressively tell you what to do in retail, hospitality and often hospitals.
Yeah I wouldnât dare tell my daughterâs teachers how to do their job, frankly what they are doing is nothing short of miraculous. I can barely manage with the two that I currently have, let alone a whole classroom full. How the hell do you keep them all on task?
Respect what you are doing!
Itâs a bit of a double edged sword. Mimd you, I am speaking only from the experience I habe seen from the Finnish system.
To put it bluntly, schools are failing at their job. Grades keep going down (as well as requirements), leading to an inevitable collision course with a world that demands more expertise from you than ever before.
Kids are not being prepared for the real life world and itâs challenges. I noticed this especially in high school and later in Uni. What was being taught vs what was expected from you by the workplaces and other systems around you seemed to not match at all.
Lastly, there seems to be a pervasive swing in political agendas depending on who is holding the cane of the government at a time. It feels less like schools are institutions where you are given different ingredients and recipies to things in life and told good luck, and more like âyou must do this in order to be a good citizen/part of the wholeâ.
Idk. My faith in institurions and supposed professionals has never been lower. Worse, I donât have the slightest clue on how do we fix all of this, especially school.
Thereâs also other symptoms like helicopter parenting which I wonât get to. But I will acknowledge the problem comes also from -some- parents side.
This is not criticism aimed at you, mind you. Just a rant about the current state of affairs.
good to see ff7 rebirth back in the spotlight with the pc port
still my goty from last year
School was very good at preparing me for more school and less so uni, work, financial systems, taxes, home repair, healthy diet or anything else outside of the school.
A lot of this should be taken on by parents to be honest. Itâs a nicety if a school can help you with, say, basic financial literacy or how to replace the plug on the end of a cable. But realistically, thatâs stuff your parents can actually do.
School isnât a replacement for parenting; a creche that installs basic human functions into your kid. Which it is by and large regarded as.
My partner is a microbiologist and I think I could convince her
Very true, a healthy mix of both institutions would of course be great. When kids spend the majority of their time in school youâd think there would be a few more âthis is how you live in the worldâ elements to the education rather than âthis is how you live in the school systemâ.
The issue is largely an economical one honestly; education, despite being generally receiving high funding in almost any notably state, tends to be heavily reliant on the individual teachers (understandably so, they are the ones in the classroom trying to educate children), but at the same time Parents should not be neglecting their childrenâs education both inside and outside of School but, unfortunately, for a great many reasons that make this a wicked problem many parents find themselves with insufficient time to actually sit down with their children to teach them fundamental and important elements of life.
The whole âit takes a villageâ is a bit outdated, but thereâs also a lot of skills that local communities would generally teach children that are no longer being taught because local communities are increasingly non-existent.
Update: I asked and she said âif instead of replacing them with ducks, we had an equal number of ducks given to us we could point at them and go to facility management like LOOK HOW FEW DUCKS WE HAVE GIVE US MORE BEAKERSâ
Sorry, they didnât even let Balance Druids have their Ranged Nature Magic Spellcaster fantasy. Now itâs all some celestial crap.
preach it brother
Brain, I know weâve had our differences but Iâm very tired and really need to just shut off and rest a few hours. Be a good little blob and Iâll feed you a nice, juicy story later.
worst. fantasy change. EVER.
