The smart way for wardens to recruit is to head to the sovereign and say ‘hey we need like 12 people as per our treaty’ and while they’re delaying that you wander about, do some mercenary work, and find people who are ‘willing’ to ‘volunteer’. maybe the sovereign even pulls through and gets you someone, which is a bonus
Outside of Weisshaubt and similar fortresses, keeping numbers relatively low until you need to go into Blight mode is an easy way to keep costs low and prevent leaks about how many recruits you need versus how many Wardens result
So, fellow roleplayers, what other roleplaying and/or fantasy themed conventions in Europe can you recommend, other than Ropecon in Helsinki? I attended three of these back in Russia and am realizing I miss them here.
I did attend one day of Ropecon as part of Acrona’s meet this summer.
Duncans such a nice guy he probably can just ask and get a castle honestly. That guy was great.
Blackwall… I can just see him living off the land due to his past etc. If the wardens were just casually demanding things off of innkeepers they’d rapidly lose goodwill and, as we see irl, it doesn’t matter how much a thing matters, if goodwill goes care goes and the population says “screw you.”
I’d say they have to be a lot more careful then is generally assumed tbh.
You might be interested in checking out Castlefest and Elfia, both organized in the Netherlands.
I’ve attended Castlefest twice, and it’s a cool destination if you love a wide range of activities, scenic settings, and dressing up in fantasy costumes - not to mention admiring all the outfits other people have put together.
However, the experience can be heavily influenced by the weather, as it’s primarily an outdoor event. Last year, all three days were rainy which was a bit unfortunate staying two nights at the campsite. But it’s a worthy adventure to consider nonetheless!
One of my coworkers goes to Castlefest every year with her (adult) daughter and swears by it, have heard nothing but good things about it (I last went when I was like 12 so I’ve not much to say on it unfortunately)
It could have been drastically improved if you were able to convince Tallis the Qun was wrong (since she expressed doubts anyway), or if there was a chance to kill her or stop her taking the list of names. Zero reason for an Act 3 Hawke to let her leave with it. Less than zero reason for a Mage Hawke given how Saarebas are treated.
Even Varric kind of admits there’s no logical reason for letting her go, he just kinda handwaves it with “uhhh idk lol”.
I liked the concept of the DLC well enough, the wyvern hunt was fun, as was killing a bunch of Orlesians, and the final boss fight with multiple phases and distinct tactics beyond “stand around and slap spell buttons” was well designed. The environments were pretty.
So we can finally stop debating if any of the axis in the cosmic chart have any deeper meanings, the answer from Kosak himself seems to be: not really, he found things he thought “fitted” but it was mostly aesthetical and the only connections he comments on are the elemental ones.
Archon above Naaru seems odd, the only mentions of that word in all of WoW are in Shadowlands, way after Kosak left.
I love whenever we get insight on these things and it’s just the story/lore devs having toddler critical-thinking skills and going “yeah fire/air is legion because… they descend on planets as fire (they don’t) and corruption gives you wings (a majority of the time it doesn’t)” meanwhile this forum is shedding blood daily trying to decipher Stromic-Mag’har socio-economic relations.
