I’ve made a terrible mistake and put myself forward for forest school training (beavers/cubs stuff in a school day basically).
It’s either going to be a brilliant new path or I’m going to immediately regret every decision from this point on.
I mean there is a third option where I’m trained up but never deployed as a forest school… person. But that’s rather a waste of the schools time and budget.
The latest chapter of Ao no Hako/Blue Box was so good. We love to see Chinatsu recognising her own strength and growth. Made me giddy.
Unrelated: I’m not going to be adopting the 2024 version of 5e because most of the changes are too minor to do a full “I want to learn this” and some of the changes are kinda lame and bad, so I’m sticking with 2014. I am keeping up with some of the stuff in 2024’s version though, so I can take anything I like and backport it.
The peeve is that they have recently released a UA for a few subclasses for Forgotten Realms, including the Purple Dragon Knight. Despite the name, this knightly order from Cormyr doesn’t really have any actual connection to purple dragons. The name comes from their victory over a black dragon “who was so old that his scales had acquired a purple hue” when Cormyr was still establishing itself.
The UA has decided that “Purple Dragon Knight=Purple Dragon Rider” subclass and retooled it into psionically bonding with amethyst dragons out of nowhere. It feels very much like a game designer simply saw the name and didn’t think about it any harder than that. It’s not as if this stuff is hard to find - for all its faults the FR wiki is remarkably in-depth and well-sourced. It’s a simple google search away.
I’m not even that married to the lore of FR, a lot of it’s trash, but it still peeves me that it’s being looked at so flippantly.
to be fair, [to be faaaaair], the fact that you look at the Purple Dragon Knight fighter subclass and realise that not only does it have nothing to do with dragons but is also just an underwhelming 4E Warlord is pretty bad
‘oh they’re just named after one dragon they killed once’ weak story for an entire order
It does feel knightly though. Clinging to a past glory even centuries later. The fact that the subclass mechanically is/was a let down isn’t a reason to go “actually now they bond with gem dragons, because, we said so! outta nowhere!”
Like just make a Knight of Bahamut subclass instead!
Idk what I did or if this this the people behind the scenes going “well… sh-” but I didn’t manipulate my youtube algorithm at all and yet there’s suddenly more and more leftist channels popping up on my front page.
I know a lot of people found Neera BG2EE annoying and frustrating but getting the opportunity to shove my fist in a bunch of notable Red Wizards faces - including Szass Tam himself - was worth it.
