So school did Eid celebration, basically the kids come in in their own clothes as an excuse to let the Muslim kids show off their Eid clothings.

Naturally year 2 re focuses on Jesus amd year 4 only does something Eid related because the firmer Muslim year 1 teacher (the one I work under) actually does something Eid related because of course she did, she’s not an idiot.

So for most of the school it really was just a token ‘we know you not white, so we’ll pat you on the head’ thing.

Reminds me of black history month at my old school where ‘black history’ was tiki masks and lip rings.

I mean I love tiki masks and lip rings but Africa and black history more broadly is just as expansive as white European history damn it.

And I’m pretty sure the Muslim kids would like a bit more recognition of their culture than ‘wear something pretty’.

Peeve: phasing interfering with questing.

So I cleared Antorus and picked up the quest about Illidan’s message crystal. I took the crystal to Malfurion and Tyrande, then ported to Mount Hyjal for the final location…

…Only to discover that there was nothing at the quest location, and there were azerite elementals roaming about. I suspected some BfA phasing shenanigans, and that was exactly what it was, it turned out. I found out what quests I needed to complete thanks to a commenter on Wowhead.

For some reason I was put in a Hyjal phase for a BfA quest chain even though I wasn’t on that chain. I had to port to Silithus to pick up the starting quest from Magni, get back to Hyjal, go back to Silithus to complete the chain, and only then did Hyjal return to its normal phase and I was able to complete the Illidan quest.

Why.

Chromie time, as fun as it is, has also really screwed with phasing.

There’s been several times when portals have been unavailable, or simply had phasing issues.

Taking the “return me to the current timeline” doesn’t always solve those either, you sometimes have to manually select the last timeline that expansion was relevant for. But even then its inconsistent.
