Pet peeves: The return (Part 12)

Worth keeping an eye on. Honestly for my VTT game I’ve been taking WoW equipment icons and Dark Souls/Elden Ring equipment icons for when a piece of gear is “particularly notable” that I deem it should have a unique graphic attached.

I already have commissioned art of my characters’ weapons, but looking at the customisation options in the preview, you can achieve an insane amount of detail to make the sword look exactly how you like. This will be a great tool once it drops.

A friend of mine got on the play test already and said the UI felt a bit janky, but that’s the kind of things the devs are play testing it for to iron out those things that the players feel isn’t working right! I hope they’ll eventually allow the creation of other weapon types besides swords though.

I have sent in a ticket about it, and I have reported the off site harassment to the appropriate channels. But aside from that I dont know.

And yeah for clarity since I know they are reading this, no coad, I did not dox or harass one of your editors at their work. A) Ive been very outspoken against such behavior for years. B) I dont even know who they are. C) I was already 2 months into my suspension when you claim it ocurred.

And of course D) Last year I came home from vacation to friends telling me your website had allegedly posted personal information about me and my family in my absence. I never saw it though.

Absolutley yes. Especially since the other person was not actioned.

nintendo now charging $80 for digital games and $90 for physical :skull:

It is always morally correct to pirate nintendo products

I will be skipping switch 2 i think

No new fire emblem to spark more edelgard discourse anyway

also locking bloodborne 2 to switch is scum

charging mad money for games, plus charging for updated games like breath of the wild is crazy

to be honest playing 60fps breath of the wild with HDR and better resolution is a dream, but not one worth forking out £400 and then an extra £10 for the upgrade

Their charging for upgrades too??? Get lost lmaaao ps5 does that as standard. Not a hope, gl and see you with switch 3

not all of them, but the ones they highlighted on the direct yeah

mario party, kirby and botw/totk all cost $10 to upgrade

hillariously they also released a list of games that will be free upgrades and one of them is pokemon violet lmao. what the hell is increasing the resolution and frame rates going to do for that

I think its funny that they went with the 2nd most expensive steam deck option as their competition but it has worse hardware, a LED plastic screen instead of a glass OLED and makes you repay for your games + charging station upgrade meanwhile the steam deck could be charged off a toaster if you really wanted it to be and also has a variety of ways to also access your non-steam library games and you can just install whatever the hell else apps you want onto it. You want a mobile netflix station? Mod away chief.

Honestly it is a monster of a device and I don’t know how Valve even did it. That thing is still efficiently running the most recent releases at a stable 60 depending on which version you picked up. Runs POE2 like smooth butter apparently which is surprising because even my incredibly modern PC decides that its an olympic sprint when it has to render POE2 SFXs.

The Steam Deck runs a custom build of Linux, and Valve has been investing heavily into Linux gaming; thanks to their efforts, more games run under Linux without fuss than ever before.

This alone is reason enough for me to support Valve with my money, though I don’t have a Steam Deck because I don’t need one.

It’s just a shame Linux is such an intimidating idea to your average pc user. Which most gamers do fall under, despite the tilt.

Most PC users don’t even know what an operating system is, they just use whatever came with their computer, which is Windows.

Also for most people there is this one application that is Windows only and prevents them from switching to Linux. Often it’s Adobe software.

If someone doesn’t need specialized software or compatibility with every single game under the sun, they can switch. Personally, I have a Windows installation for Linux incompatible games, but I haven’t booted into it for months now. The last games with which I had issues were Veilguard (my pirated copy didn’t run under Linux at all) and BG3 (the Steam version ran under Linux, but too slowly). These days I just play WoW and very occasionally FFXIV, and both Just Work.

Feeling real called out here

okay, I know what an operating system is but I still know very little about tech

tbh the main reason I haven’t moved to linux for my personal machines is intense laziness.
