100% agree with this because bah gawd is my online history toxic (which hasn’t been helped in the slightest by getting into Dota 2 recently…)
Also Dota 2 related: no one told me about how easy it is to get stuck in low priority due to having a potatoe of a PC which randomly freezes the game so it takes 10 minutes to restart the client.
Hunting a mark in FF12, a rare spawns on top of it. Kite the rare away to deal with it only for a 2nd rare to spawn on top of that.

You know it’s funny, but I don’t think I ever did. I have asked someone if they were an idiot - and very deliberately phrased it as a question, not an accusation. Giving them the benefit of the doubt as it were.
Which totally went over that dumb bastard’s head.
(jokes asides, most of the above examples probably aren’t the norm even for online gamers - or so I choose to believe)

Like yes, when I was a kid I used words like cancer to describe a bad gaming situation because it was and is heavily normalised and I would expect and appreciate someone calling me out for that and most importantly I never found myself saying ‘why are there more options for Black and Asian folks in the customiser’ or using Pepe the frog as my discord avatar

it is two days until we are due to fly to italy for christmas, and the world is going a bit wrong again and everyone around me is getting COVID

I’m not surprised.
For many it was their first foray into Final Fantasy - well reviewed, beautiful cinematics, full voice acting (for better or worse), a move away from the ATB to an extremely transparent and intuitive turn order list, great soundtrack…
And a solid sequel even if people continue to sleep on it.
