Pet peeves: The return (Part 2)

no worse!!

only better!!!

Iā€™ve definitely come around to how good it is having just replayed it, but I had assumed that 6 and 7 would sit at the top.

Order of Elimination

watch me simply disregard this game

Not so hot take: FF6 is the new FF7, by which I mean in the 2000s everyone raved about how good 7 is (and it is) to the point it become overrated and saturated with praise. Now some peopleā€™s hispterising back a step into FF6 instead so they donā€™t appear as normie.

but guess what internet
liking popular things is fine
theyā€™re popular for a reason!

I like 6 a lot. Itā€™s not my favourite, but like you say itā€™s one that has been so saturated with praise by (generally) 7 detractors that I was sure Iā€™d see those two duking it out at the top. But perhaps redditors are more cultured than I give them credit for (lol).

Personally Iā€™d have stuck 9 in the top spot but I know that isnā€™t necessarily the right option for a lot of people. Happy to see it made it to the top 3 at the very least.

it desperately needs a full 3D rework where Sabin suplexes a train and Ultros is still 16-bit

Saw someone complaining in the elimination discussion when 6 went out that Ultros ruined the Opera scene with the sudden tonal shift.

Ultros improves every scene that he is a part of.

Iā€™d give 8 or 9 a full 3D rework before 6.

Thatā€™s how powerful my disregard is for the game. :muscle:

Dragon Age peeverino: while we eventually got an explanation why Leliana is alive in DA2 and Inquisition if you kill her in Origins, I feel like it creates more problems than it solves.

I personally think a better solution would have been to just bite the bullet and soft-retcon the whole thing, saying the Warden left her for dead.

6 is my favourite out of the pixel FF games

I think 4 slightly edges it out for me because of Tellah. But only slightly.

The big difference is that a 7R level rework of 9 probably wouldnā€™t actually need to change very much - certainly not to the extent that 7 did - and the only way to improve 8 is to take the second half of the game, lead it behind the stables and solemnly gun it down

I think youā€™d remaster FF9 rather than remake it

6 has some fantastic set pieces and wonderful characters but the plot and gameplay can sometimes be a little wonky which is what makes it a great candidate for a rework

Yes. Absolutely.

No additional content needed, just give me a straight 3D remaster and give it to BluePoint to do.

sounds good to me

and if anyone asks why the stories are different, well, GFs did it. Or witches. Or time compression.

I dunno it would be nice if we got any sort of content about Amaranth. Remember him? Not for his character/personality thatā€™s for sure. You probably didnā€™t even remember his name is Amarant, with no ā€˜hā€™ at the end.

Iā€™m okay with him just not being in it. In keeping with the original game.

Big booba bounty hunter had more personality than he did.

I remembered >:(

There are things I would change, like the times Zidane got handsy have aged very poorly and the card minigame should just be scrapped and replaced with Gwent but theyā€™re all pretty minor and the ATB system and Trances all work well and just need the graphics updating

not unless they let me store it between battles because good lord i hate it triggering in a battle thatā€™s about to finish and being utterly wasted

also the main reason i am avoiding a remake is because i donā€™t want to start fighting fate at the end of the first disc

hands off nomura

true
tetra master more like tetra mistake-a.

Also I want more Burmecia content. Felt very short from what memory serves.

It stops you from banking Trances for boss battles which was always the most tedious part of 10

thatā€™s right nobody enjoyed it. not even you. stop lying
